Abstract

A portable restroom has generally smooth interior walls which facilitate the cleaning and maintenance of the restroom. To form such a restroom having sufficient structural reliability, each wall of the restroom is formed with a plurality of hidden ribs that are created during the molding process. The hidden ribs add a great degree of strength to each of the walls, thus allowing for the creation of a smooth walled interior. In addition, the portable restroom includes an optimization of floor space and accessory configuration.

Claims

-20-CLAIMSI claim:
1. A portable restroom enclosure, comprising: a plurality of wall panels coupleable together, wherein at least one of the panels has a hollow interior and includes at least one hidden rib imparting structural rigidity to the at least one panel.
2. A panel for use in a portable restroom enclosure, comprising: a first wall; a second wall spaced from and coupled to the first wall, defining a hollow interior therebetween; and a plurality of projections disposed between the first wall and the second wall, thereby imparting structural rigidity to the panel.
3. The panel of claim 2, wherein an interior of the first wall is substantially smooth.
4. The panel of claim 2, further comprising a plurality of grooves on an exterior of the second wall.
5. The panel of claim 2, wherein the projection is a rib fora ed from a portion of material comprising the second wall.
6. The panel of claim 2, wherein the projection is a folded portion of the second wall, wherein the folded portion is substantially perpendicular to a major axis of the second wall.
7. A portable restroom enclosure, comprising: a base; a roof panel; a rear panel having a hollow interior with a plurality of hidden ribs therein and a substantially smooth wall defining a rear interior of the enclosure, wherein the rear panel is coupleable between the base and the roof panel; a first side panel having a hollow interior with a plurality of hidden ribs therein and a substantially smooth wall defining a first side interior of the enclosure, wherein the first side panel is coupleable to the base, the roof panel, and the rear panel; -21- a second side panel having a hollow interior with a plurality of hidden ribs therein and a substantially smooth wall defining a second side interior of the enclosure, wherein the first side panel is coupleable to the base and the rear panel, wherein a gap is created between the first side panel and the second side panel opposite the rear panel when the first side panel and the second side panel are coupled to the base; and a door pivotably coupleable between the base and the roof panel and substantially occluding the gap when the door is in a closed position.
8. The portable restroom enclosure of claim 6, further comprising a rear louver disposed on the rear panel; a first side louver disposed on the first side panel; and a second side louver disposed on the second side panel.
9. The portable restroom enclosure of claim 7 wherein the door has a hollow interior with a plurality of hidden ribs disposed therein.
10. The portable restroom enclosure of claim 6 wherein the door further includes a latch mechanism positioned within a molded recess within the door.
11. The portable restroom enclosure of claim 6, wherein the first side panel and the second side panel each include at least one molded groove on an exterior portion.
12. The portable restroom of claim 6 wherein the door is coupled to the base and roof panel with a pivot tube, about which the door pivots.
13. The portable restroom of claim 6 further including a torsion spring biasing the door to a closed position.
