Abstract

The present invention is directed to compositions which are useful for promoting one or more health benefits including, for example, promoting joint health, bone health, cardiac health, and / or anti-inflammation. The present invention is further directed to kits comprising the compositions and methods of using the compositions and kits. In particular, the present invention is directed to compositions comprising: (a) a chondroprotective agent selected from the group consisting of aminosugars, aminosugar salts, and mixtures thereof; wherein the chondroprotective agent is present in the composition in a molar amount equivalent to at least about 1700 mg of glucosamine hydrochloride; and (b) water. The present invention is further directed to food, beverage, pharmaceutical, over-the-counter, and dietary supplement products which comprise the present compositions. The products are suitable for mammalian use. The invention also relates to kits comprising the present compositions and information that use of the composition should be administered once-daily and / or promotes one or more of the presently defined health benefits, including joint health, bone health, cardiac health, and anti-inflammation. The present invention additionally relates to methods of administering to a mammal a composition as defined herein. In addition, the present invention relates to kits comprising defined compositions and information that such kits should be administered either twice-daily or three-times-daily and, optionally, information that use of the composition promotes one or more of the presently defined health benefits, including joint health, bone health, cardiac health, and anti-inflammation. The present invention additionally relates to methods of administering defined compositions either twice-daily or three-times-daily.
