Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil conçus pour obtenir des cellules de l'oesophage à des fins de diagnostic, qui consistent à introduire l'extrémité distale d'un corps support flexible dans l'estomac d'un patient à travers l'oesophage et la bouche de façon que l'extrémité proximale du corps support saille de la bouche. Un ballon à l'extrémité distale du corps support est gonflée et le corps support est retiré jusqu'à ce que le ballon gonflé entre en contact avec le sphincter à l'entrée de l'estomac. Un emplacement du corps support est marqué à une distance prédéterminée de l'arcade dentaire du patient lorsque le ballon gonflé entre en contact avec le sphincter à l'entrée de l'estomac. Le ballon est dégonflé et le corps support est retiré de façon que l'emplacement marqué jouxte l'arcade dentaire du patient. Le corps support est retiré à une seconde distance prédéterminé et un second emplacement du corps support, jouxtant l'arcade dentaire du patient, est marqué. Un élément de collecte cellulaire est déployé de l'intérieur de l'extrémité distale du corps support de façon que ledit élément soit placé dans l'oesophage à l'intérieur de la distance prédéterminée du sphincter. Le corps support va et vient dans la seconde distance prédéterminée, l'élément de collecte cellulaire étant déployé, de façon que les cellules de l'oesophage, à l'intérieur de la seconde distance prédéterminée à partir du sphincter, se déposent sur ledit élément, lequel se rétracte à l'intérieur du corps et n'entre pas en contact avec la paroi de l'oesophage. Le corps est alors retiré du patient.
