Abstract

L'invention porte sur un amplificateur optique à verrouillage de gain à double étage ou à plusieurs étages. Le signal d'entrée est injecté dans un guide d'onde optique, tel qu'une fibre optique, pourvu d'au moins un premier et un second étage d'amplification. Chaque étage d'amplification est pompé au moyen d'une source de pompage correspondante générant un signal de pompage ayant une valeur de puissance initiale. Des moyens permettent de surveiller la puissance de pompe initiale de la première source de pompage, de la seconde source de pompage et de la partie de ce signal non absorbé par le premier étage d'amplification. La puissance de pompage initiale des premier et second signaux de pompage commandés en même temps est établie à une même valeur régulée qui est calculée sur la base de la puissance de pompage du signal non absorbé émanant du premier étage d'amplification.
