Description
The present invention relates to a table cutlery service for children.
Many parents, coming from the most diverse backgrounds and not only from disadvantaged social classes, neglect to teach their children to properly hold their cutlery, and it is not uncommon to meet in sometimes refined places adults using their knives , fork and spoon with a lack of elegance which can be embarrassing for those around them.
To date, there is to our knowledge no way to facilitate children learning the correct behavior of their cutlery.
The device according to the present invention proposes to remedy this state of affairs. It makes it possible to teach in a fun way to children, from an early age, to hold their cutlery correctly. It allows this result to be achieved without constraints for the child, and without tedious efforts for parents or those responsible for their education.
It consists of cutlery of reduced size adapted to the hands of children and whose handle includes elements in relief determined to promote a correct position of the hand of the user, the knife and the fork being each provided, to the end of the handle situated on the side of the blade or of the teeth, of an upwardly oriented pattern intended to receive the tip of the index finger, the free end of the handle of the spoon being provided with a pattern sufficiently large to prevent from grabbing it with your full hand. In the accompanying drawings, given by way of nonlimiting examples of embodiments of the subject of the invention: FIGS. 1 and 2 represent a knife seen from the side and above respectively, FIGS. 3 and 4 represent a fork seen side and top respectively and Figures 5 and 6 show a spoon viewed from side and top respectively.
The device, Figures 1 to 6, consists of a knife 1, a fork 2 and a spoon 3 whose handles 4, 5, 6 are arranged to encourage the child to have his hand properly when he grab these cutlery. The full service, the dimensions of which are suitable for children from two to six years of age, also includes a small spoon (dessert spoon, not shown). The handles of each utensil are made of synthetic material of different colors which can possibly be phosphorescent or fluorescent, and present amusing or evocative decorations for the child, such as flowers, fruits, animals, characters or toys, inlaid or slightly in relief so not to disturb the child when he has it in hand. Your name and date of birth can be engraved on it.
The handles 4, 5 of the knife 1 and of the fork each comprise, at their end situated on the side of the blade 7 or of the teeth 8, a flower 9 in relief provided with an upward-facing surface forming a hollow arranged in a manner so that the tip of the child's index finger can lodge there naturally when the position of his hand is correct. It is therefore sufficient to tell the child to put his finger on this flower so that he grasps his knife or fork appropriately.
The handle 6 of the spoon comprises, at its end opposite to the hollow part 10, a subject in relief, consisting of a bird 11 in FIGS. 5 and 6, the volume of which is such that the child cannot grasp the covered like a hammer or stick. The purpose of this subject, placed at this point, is to prevent the child from taking the spoon by positioning his hand on top of it, but to hold it correctly from below, resting the handle 6 at the bottom of the "V" hollow formed by the thumb and forefinger.
The flowers 9 and the bird 11 are only shown here for information. They can be replaced by any other motif capable of playing the same role, for example another animal, a fruit, a vegetable, a car, an airplane, a boat, a house, an imaginary or media character, seen on television, or any other subject that is part of the children's universe.
The sleeves 4, 5, 6 may advantageously include decorative patterns 12, 13 colored, preferably supplementing the elements in relief 9, 11 encouraging to correctly grasp the cutlery and making it possible to make cutlery particularly attractive for children.
The elements in relief 9, 11 and the patterns of the sleeves 4, 5, 6 of the same set of cutlery may advantageously form a set, for example by representing characters or elements taken from the same children's book or from a same cartoon.
The cutlery described can be produced with handles 4, 5, 6 of synthetic material molded on blades 7, teeth 8 and hollow parts 10 of a steel spoon, or be entirely made of plastic.
The positioning of the various constituent elements gives the object of the invention a maximum of useful effects which had not, to date, been obtained by similar devices.
