Abstract

A directly modulated oscillator (100) features the decoupling of the modulation function from the channel tuning function. The modulation function is removed from the tank circuit (110) and incorporated into an oscillator circuit (130) by a summing circuit (133) which combines a modulation current at a modulation input (132) with an oscillator bias current to produce a modulated oscillator bias current (134).
