Abstract

L'invention porte sur de nouveaux procédés et matériaux de sélection de cellules transgéniques et en particulier sur des méthodes de sélection positive consistant à conférer à certaines cellules la capacité de métaboliser certains composés dont de préférence l'arabitol, le ribitol, la raffinose, le saccharose, le mannitol ou leurs combinaisons. On peut de ce fait sélectionner des cellules transformées en les soumettant simplement à un milieu contenant de tels composés. Ladite invention, qui atténue les désavantages et problèmes des méthodes de sélection négative, tels que la destruction inutile des cellules transformées, et la dispersion dans l'environnement de gènes potentiellement nuisibles (par exemple gènes résistants aux antibiotiques ou aux herbicide), porte en outre sur de nouvelles séquences nucléotidiques relatives à l'opéron du E. Coli rtl et au gène de l'arabitol déshydrogénase, et sur des séquences d'acides aminés relatives à leurs produits géniques.
