Abstract

Ein Verfahren für die schnelle und automatische Authentifikation von mit optischen Merkmalen gesicherten Dokumenten, bei denen die Positionen der Merkmale relativ zum Koordinatensystem des Dokumentes und/oder des Prüfautomaten nicht oder nur ungefähr bekannt sind, sieht vor, daß in einem ersten Arbeitsschritt das Dokument in seiner Gesamtheit oder in Teilbereichen mit Beleuchtungsmitteln ausgeleuchtet wird, deren spektrale und geometrische Verteilung, Polarisierungsgrad und/oder -ausrichtung, Kohärenz und zeitliche Aktivität so gewählt sind, daß ein oder mehrere durch einen oder mehrere bildgebende Sensoren erfaßbare Abbilder der beleuchteten Dokumentenflächen entstehen, in welchen die Position der Sicherheitsmerkmale einen Unterschied relativ zum übrigen Dokumentenhintergrund bilden und daß diese Positionen automatisch mit Verfahren der Bilderkennung relativ zum Koordinatensystem des Dokumentes ermittelt werden, daß in einem zweiten Arbeitsschritt die Prüfung der entsprechenden Merkmale nur in den Bildbereichen vorgenommen wird, welche den im ersten Arbeitsschritt gefundenen Positionen entsprechen und hierzu die entsprechenden Bildbereiche derart beleuchtet werden, daß die entsprechenden Merkmale der Bilder spektrale Signaturen und/oder andere optische Muster erzeugen, aus welchen mit Verfahren der Bildverarbeitung und der Spektrometrie die für die Prüfung der Merkmale benötigten Informationen abgeleitet werden können.
