Abstract

The invention concerns a weir with a weirgate with a low placed axis. The weirgate is foreseen with wings in the form of a half circle which carries a tooth-rack. The tooth-rack is driven by gears which are connected with each other by right angle wormgears and via a system of shafts. The system of shafts is led underneath of the weir so when the weirgate is opened, ships can pass the weir.

The invention concerns a weir with a weirgate with a low placed axis. The weirgate is foreseen with wings in the form of a half circle which carries a tooth-rack. The tooth-rack is driven by gears which are connected with each other by right angle wormgears and via a system of shafts. The system of shafts is led underneath of the weir so when the weirgate is opened, ships can pass the weir. The invention will be described with the help of the drawings.
Fig. 1 shows a cros-section of the weir.
Fig. 2 shows a cros-section in the length of the weir. Fig. 1 shows the view from above. Fig. 1 shows a horizontal cros-section of the embankment. Fig. 1 shows a cros-section through the threshold.
Weirgate (1) hinges on shaft (2). 2 wings in half circle form (3) are mounted on weirgate (1) which carry tooth-racks (4). Gear (5) drives tooth-rack (4). Gear (5) is mounted on the outgoing shaft of a right angle wormgear (6) with casing (7). At (8) are means (not drawn) to drive the wormgear, for example a hand crank or electric motor. Vertical shafts (9) are connected to wormgears (6). Vertical shafts (9) are connected with horizontal shaft (11) with homokinetic couplings (10). Coupling (10) is a cardan coupling in rustproof version. System of shafts (9, 10, 11) is placed inside a case (12) which is led underneath of the weir. By the connection of gears (5) is it possible to move a wide weirgate without twisting. When one wormgear is driven by an electric motor the other wormgear can be fitted with a hand crank for emergency cases. In Fig. 4 is with (13) the sealing between embankment (14) and wings (3) shown. Fig. 5 shows a cros-section of threshold (15). Instead of cardan couplings (10) an other type of right angle drive can be used.

Claims

Claims.
1. Weir equipped with a weirgate with a low places axis characterised by gate (1) is provided with wings (3) in the form of a half circle with on the circumference tooth-rack (4) to move gate (1) with gears (5) which are connected by shaft system (9, 10, 11) and right angle wormgears (6) where shafts (9, 10, 11) are led through case (12) underneath threshold (15) and where shafts (9, 11) are connected with homokinetic couplings (10).
2. Weir as in claim 1 characterised by that homokinetic couplings (10) are cardan couplings in rustproof version.
