Abstract

The invention relates to recombinant nucleic acid molecules that comprise plant defense genes, as well as promoters that mediate a pathogen and/or ozone-inducible gene expression. The invention further relates to a method for producing new plants that contain said nucleic acid molecules or fragments thereof, to the corresponding new plants and to the use of the promoters for inducing pathogen and/or ozone-responsive gene expression in plants and plant cells.
