Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un système destiné à un protocole d'encapsulage SCSI permettant de transmettre des données entre au moins deux noeuds dans un réseau par paquet. Ce procédé consiste: à identifier au niveau de chaque noeud du réseau tous les autres noeuds disponibles sur ce réseau, ainsi que les dispositifs à distance attachés à ces noeuds, à représenter un ou plusieurs de ces dispositifs attachés à distance de façon qu'il soient rendus disponibles aux hôtes locaux de ce noeud; à encapsuler les phases E/S entre un ou plusieurs hôtes locaux et un ou plusieurs de ces dispositifs à distance; et à répéter l'étape d'encapsulage destinée aux E/S entre un ou plusieurs hôtes et un ou plusieurs dispositifs. L'étape d'encapsulage des phases E/S entre un hôte local et un dispositif à distance peut aussi comprendre des fonctions de gestion de tâche d'encapsulage, des fonctions de récupération d'erreur et des fonctions de traitement E/S normales. Chaque noeud peut être un routeur Fibre Channel-interface SCSI.
