Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method as defined in the preamble to Claim 1.
  • Spouts of this type are currently used in containers for pouring out products of various types, in granular or powder form, such as, for example, salt, sugar, cereals, detergents, etc.
  • the spouts are usually made of aluminium or plastics and are connected, by folding, to a tongue which is formed in a wall of the container by making an inverted U-shaped cut therein, and on which a central portion of the spout is fitted by folding.
  • aluminium or plastics spouts does not permit complete recycling of the spout together with the container once the container has been emptied of its contents .
  • This technique which therefore requires the provision of a system for applying the glue, in turn has a first disadvantage inherent in the costs of the installation and the control of the system for applying the glue.
  • a second disadvantage which is of a practical nature, is connected with the fact that the apparatus for applying the glue inevitably tends to leak drops of glue which are deposited at undesired points and may impede the operation of the packaging machine or of the apparatus which inserts the spouts in the boxes or, in other cases, may prevent the spout from opening because it is also glued to the fixed portion of the box.
  • the use of the gluing technique is also disadvantageous from the production point of view because it cannot easily be applied to rotary machines which insert the spouts in the boxes automatically.
  • the object of the present invention is therefore the fitting of cardboard spouts of the type specified above, overcoming the disadvantages of the prior art discussed above.
  • this object is achieved by a method comprising the steps defined in independent Claim 1.
  • a further object of the invention is to propose a type of cardboard which is suitable for making spouts that can be fitted to cardboard containers by such a method.
