Definitions
- the present invention relates to a linearly movable carrier for a microscope.
- the purpose of the invention is to provide a carrier enabling a microscope to be traversed easily across a working surface, without intruding on the said surface and without requiring a device to be operated mechanically to move the instrument.
- This is achieved by means of a cross slide which is attached to the rear edge of the work bench at a suitable height, three interconnected slides operating at right-angles to the said cross slide, and a clamping device for the microscope. This arrangement frees the entire working surface and enables the microscope to be traversed without hindrance.
- the rear cross slide is designated 1 , the three, interconnected slides operating at right angles to the cross slide 2, 3 and 4 respectively, and the microscope clamping device 5.

Abstract
In many taks using a microscope, it is desirable to traverse the instrument easily across the working surface without intruding on the said surface and without the need for mechanical adjustment each time the instrument is moved. This has been achieved by means of a device consisting of a cross slide (1) attached to the rear edge of the work bench at a suitable height, and supporting carrying three interconnected and interacting slides (2, 3 and 4) at right-angles, the lowermost slide (4) being provided with a clamping device (5) for the microscope.
Description
Patent
Linear carrier in X, Y and (Z) directions for microscope
Consisting of a number of interacting slides and a clamping device, the present invention relates to a linearly movable carrier for a microscope.
Background
Many tasks performed with a microscope could be simplified and carried out more quickly if the instrument could be traversed easily over the working surface. This has hitherto not been possible due to the fact that the microscope is either mounted on a stand which intrudes on the working surface or is attached to the work bench by a device which must be operated mechanically to move the instrument.
Purpose and principal characteristics of invention
The purpose of the invention is to provide a carrier enabling a microscope to be traversed easily across a working surface, without intruding on the said surface and without requiring a device to be operated mechanically to move the instrument. This is achieved by means of a cross slide which is attached to the rear edge of the work bench at a suitable height, three interconnected slides operating at right-angles to the said cross slide, and a clamping device for the microscope. This arrangement frees the entire working surface and enables the microscope to be traversed without hindrance.
Description
On the appended drawing, the rear cross slide is designated 1 , the three, interconnected slides operating at right angles to the cross slide 2, 3 and 4 respectively, and the microscope clamping device 5.
Claims
Patent claims
Linear carrier in X, Y and (Z) directions for microscope, consisting of a rear cross slide (1), three interconnected and interacting slides (2, 3 and 4), and a clamping device (5),
characterised in that
the device, consisting of a rear cross slide (1), on which three interconnected and interacting slides (2, 3 and 4) are supported at right-angles, and a clamping device (5), permits the microscope to be traversed over the working surface without intruding on the said surface and without the need for mechanical adjustment each time the instrument is moved.
