Abstract

Bei einem Labor-Roboter mit wenigstens einem in einem vorbestimmten Arbeitsbereich bewegbaren Roboterarm, an welchem eine Greifvorrichtung (26) zum Ergreifen mindestens einer durch den Roboterarm zu bewegenden Funktionseinheit angeordnet ist, ist erfindungsgemäss an dem Roboterarm bzw. der Greifvorrichtung (26) ferner eine Orientiervorrichtung (48) vorgesehen, um der Funktionseinheit und der Greifvorrichtung (26) eine vorbestimmte feste Relativorientierung zu verleihen. Zur Isolierung von Nukleinsäuren aus einer biologische, nukleinsäurehaltige Kompartimente enhtaltenden Probe, unter Verwendung eines erfindungsgemässen Labor-Roboters, versetzt man die Probe mit negativ geladenen Partikeln aus einem Polymermaterial und einem Reagenz, oder bestehend aus einer wässrigen Lösung mindestens eines chaotropen Salzes und gegebenenfalls einem aliphatischen Alkohol, trennt die Partikel in geeigneter Weise von der überstehenden Lösung ab, wäscht ggf. und löst die an die Partikel gebundenen Nukleinsäuren mittels eines Elutionspuffers von den Partikeln.
