Abstract

A method of selecting transformed cells comprising stably transforming the genome of the cell with a nucleic acid encoding a glyoxalase I protein and subjecting the cell to a selective agent comprising a normally toxic agent which is toxic to untransformed cells but is capable of being degraded by the glyoxalase thereby eliminating the toxicity of the agent to the transformed cell.
