Description

Dartboards
This invention relates to three dartboards, with one board having a circular circumference, and the remaining two boards, having a rectangular circumference, usually, all existing dartboards have a circular circumference.
According to the present invention, there is provided a Model A dartboard, comprising of a disc, the disc has a circular circumference and two flat surfaces, that lay parallel to each other. One of the flat surfaces is used Cor resting the board onto, and the other opposing flat surface is the playing or target area, that holds the circular target symbols.
In the present invention there is also provided a Model B, dartboard, having a rectangular circumference, also with circular target symbols.
Model C dartboard also has a rectangular circumference but contains or holds, rectangular and circular target symbols.
A. specific embodiement of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing of the Model A,board, B board, then
C board.
Model A dartboard Fig 1 , shows the dartboard with the flat surface of the playing area exposed. he playing area holds the metal wire, circular target symbols. The board is circular
Fig 2,Model A dartboard, shows a side view of the dartboard and includes some of the target symbols, that protrude from the playing surface of the dartboard. The side view is taken in the direction of arrows A A, fig 1.
Fig 3, odel A board, shows a sectional view of A A fig 1, which is taken vertically from near the top of the dartboard and exposes, only the central target symbol, the section view ends near the bottom of the dartboard . he central symbol is one of the two identical smallest symbols, and represents the Joker playing card. The diameter scale of this symbol is increased to approximately 2 to 1.
Referring to the drawing of Model A fig 1, shows an illustration of the mentioned dartboard . The dartboard comprises of a circular disc 35, having two flat surfaces, 36 and 37, that are on opposite sides or faces of the disc, and lay parallel to each other. The thickness of the dartboard will determine the distance between the playing surface 37,and the back surface of the board 36.The circumference of the board 35, fig l,is circular. Fig 1, shows the full playing area 37,and all its symbols. The dartboard has 34 target symbols, 1 to 34 fig l,and 18 of these symbols 1 to 18 are outer target symbols. Inside 16 of these 18 target symbols, are inner target symbols 19 to 34 The two target symbols without the inner target symbols 17 and 18, are the same shape and have the same target surface area. The outer circular target symbols 1 to 18,are formed with metal wire, hich is round in section, and the wire can be sunk into, or raised onto the playing surface of the dartboard 37.The inner circular target symbols 19 to 34, are again formed with metal wire, of round section, and are identical in section size to the outer target symbols. The inner target symbols can be sunk into the playing surface 37, or raised onto the playing surface 37.The position of all the target symbols on the dartboard are shown in Fig 1. The circular path of the target symbols, starting from symbol l,and passing through the centre of all the other target symbols, travels in a continuous circular direction, but having a decreasing radius, and forming a spiral path which ends in the centre of the board. The two target symbols 17 and 18, are circular, and the wire that forms the circular symbols, is set at the same depth in relation to playing surface 37, as for all 34 symbols. Each set of target symbols 1 and 19,2 and 20,3 and 21, 4 and 22,5 and 23,6 and 24,7 and 25,8 and 26,9 and 27, 10 and 28,11 and 29,12 and 30,13 and 31,14 and 32,15 and 33, 16 and 34, and the singular or individual circular target symbols 17 and 18, represent or substitute a playing card included in a standard pack of playing cards, the card or dart target symbols represent, Jokers, Face cards and numbered cards or targets. When playing the darts , hearts, diamonds, spades or club symbols can be utilised to differentiate between the modem of one thrown dart and the next,or another thrown dart. The rules of the game can be set accordingly.
The maximum radius point of any of the target symbols, is determined by the distance that the dart point can penetrate into the outermost region of the target symbols. Fig 3, illustrates a section view through the centre of a Model A dartboard ,but only shows the central symbol, and this symbol being approximately twice full size of the central playing symbol on a playable dartboard.Fig 3, nomenclature shows how the target volume is calculated, using the maximum, various dart point depths of penetration into the dartboard.Again in fig 3, the maximum radius point 38, is determined by the distance that the dart point 38,penetrates into the outermost regions of the target symbol, and this point 38, would increase in distance from the centre of the symbol 39, as the circumference 40, of the target symbol increases. This feature gives each symbol a maximum possible, target point radius 38,with this radius point 38, increasing as the target symbol diameter increases .
The maximum, target depth point 41, fig 3, is the distance that the dart point 38, can penetrate into the dartboard playing surface 37,with the central axis of the dart being at right angles to the playing surface 37, of the dartboard. This distance or depth is the same in each target symbol ,whatever the symbol diameter.Taking all the depth and width target extremities 38, that a particular dart point 38, can penetrate into a target symbol, a full target perimeter shape is produced, hen added to the existing target surface area. The full target perimeter gives each target symbol, ass. which means that each target symbol has volume. The volume of each target symbol increases as the target number increases, or the playing card value of the target or symbol increases. In this Model A,dartboard game arrangement, 1 and 19,circular dart target symbols, are adjacent to each other and surround or encompass, the largest, target or playing surface area, the largest target or symbol volume, and represent or substitute the low value Ace playing card, with 1,being the larger outer circular target symbol, and 19 being the smaller inner circular target symbol.2 and 20, circular dart target symbols, are adjacent to each other, and surround or encompass the second largest target or playing surface area, the second largest target or symbol volume, and represent or substitute the low value number two playing card, with 2, being the larger outer circular target symbol, and 20, being the smaller inner circular target symbol

Each of these two remaining symbols represent or substitute a Joker playing card, and are the smallest targets on the board.
Each set of dartboard target symbols, which include the inner and outer symbol of each target, 16 and 34 through to 1 and 19, increase in surface area, meaning the combined surface area of each individual set, and the combined volume of each individual set , the two smallest symbols are the nearest to the board centre.Beginning from the two smallest identical target symbols, 17 and 18, and including each subsequent set of inner and outer target symbols, ranging from 16 and 34 symbols to 1 and 19 symbols, with the inner and outer target diameters increasing, the inner and outer target surface areas increasing, and the inner and outer target volumes increasing.
The outer target symbols subsequently increase in size, including surface area, volume, diameter and internal peripheral length, ranging from the two smallest identical symbols 18 and 17, to symbol 16, to symbol 15, to symbol 14, to symbol 13, to symbol 12, to symbol 11, to s mbol 10, to symbol 9, to symbol 8,to symbol 7, to symbol 6, to symbol 5, to symbol 4 , to symbol 3 , to symbol 2 , and lastly to symbol 1. The internal peripheral length, being, the outer target symbol s outer wire, internal length or circumference. The inner target symbols subsequently decrease in size, including surface area, volume, diameter and internal peripheral lengt , starting from the largest inner target symbol 19, to symbol 20, to symbol 21, to symbol 22, to symbol 23, to symbol 24, to symbol 25, to symbol 26, to symbol 27, to symbol 28, to symbol 29, to symbol 30, to symbol 31, to symbol 32, to symbol 33, to symbol 34, and lastly the two smallest identical symbols 17 and 18. The internal peripheral length being, the inner target symbols inner wire, internal length or circumference. The subsequent change in size of each inner and outer symbol ranges, can be by a different amount or the same amount, for each symbol respectively.
The different sizes in surface areas of the target symbols, determine the degree of difficulty in a player landing a dart in a particular symbol. The symbol with the smaller area being more difficult to land a dart into. Each inner target symbol can be concentric with its adjacent outer target symbol, or eccentric in relation to its adjacent outer target symbol, with the symbol sets in this present dartboard having inner symbols concentric with outer adjacent symbols. The inner target symbols are utilised to enable the dart thrower or player to gain a more difficult symbol sequence, or more difficult playing card hand, with the inner symbols being more difficult to land a dart into.
42, fig 3, is the radial path or arc created by the various, maximum radius dart point penetrations into the target area, 38 being the maximum point of penetration by the dart point. This radius distance is also repeated on the full perimeter outer peripheral target form or shape, between the target base 41,and the playing surface 37.The possible dart point penetrations 38,42 and 41, ill form the outer peripheral target volume shape.
If there are target symbols on each of the opposing playing surfaces and the dart point 38,penetrates deeper than half the thicknes of the board, then the target symbol thickness will extend the full thickness of the dartboard. Each target symbol and each set of symbols can represent, our, card suits and the suits being, clubs, spades, diamonds and hearts. Before the dart player throws the dart, the player says what suit the intended target symbol will represent. If the player throws for the number 6, target symbol, and calls or says diamonds, before he or she throws the dart, and the dart lands in the number 6 symbol, then the player has obtained the 6 of diamonds. If the thrown dart lands in the number 8 symbol , then the player has obtained the 8 of diamonds . As illustrated in Fig 1,1 and 19 symbols combined, provide the largest set of target symbols , have the largest surface playing area, the largest symbol set volume, the largest symbol set target periphery and the largest outer symbol diameter, also the largest inner symbol diameter. Symbols 1 and 19 can represent the low Ace playing card or the number one symbol in a sequence, or any other nominated number. As illustrated in Fig 1,16 and 34 symbols combined, provide the smallest set of target symbols, have the smallest surface playing area, the smallest symbol set volume, the smallest symbol set target periphery, and the smallest outer symbol diameter, also the smallest inner symbol diameter. Symbols 16 and 34,can represent the high number three playing card, or the number sixteen symbol in a sequence, or any other nominated number.
Fig 2, shows a side, section view of the Model A dartboard, and illustrates the symbol wires 1,2,3,4,5,6,13,14 and 18.The playing surface indicated by 37, fig l,is shown, and the wire symbols are attached to this surface by using U staple One game that can be played on the Model A dartboard, can be twinned with 3 card brag, with 3 card brag usually being played with a standard pack of playing cards. The various ranges of hands that can be obtained with playing cards, when playing 3 card brag, can also be obtained by using darts on the Model A board, and in the following way. The lowest scoring range in 3 card brag is the range denoted by the expression 5 high, 6 high, 7 high and so on, up to Ace high, these hands or scores can be obtained with darts. The score 5 high is obtained by landing one dart in the number 5 symbol, inner or outersymbol, and the other remaining two darts must land in a smaller number symbol or no symbol at all. With no 5 symbol, being the fifth largest. The hand or score 6 high, is obtained by landing one dart anywhere in the sixth largest set, of symbols, and the other two remaining darts can land in smaller sets of symbols or none at all.
The highest hand in this range is Ace high, and the same principle applies for all three darts.
The 2nd highest range are the, pairs , and the thrower must land at least 2 darts , anywhere in one of the sets of symbols, and the third dart can land elsewhere. The highest pairs are the Aces, and this pair can be obtained by landing two darts in the small Ace symbols .
The third highest range are the flushes range, and these, scores can be made by landing three darts into one set of symbols, for instance if the thrower lands 3 darts into the set of high Ace symbols then, the thrower has obtained Ace flush.
The fourth highest range are the, runs, and runs can be made by landing darts into three seperate sets of symbols. but each set of symbols must be consecutively numbered, for instance if the three thrown darts landed anywhere in the symbol sets 5,6 and 7, hich are the fifth, six and seventh largest symbols, but not all the darts in the inner symbols of each set, then the thrower has obtained the run of 5,6 and 7.The highest run is Ace, two, three, hich is made by landing the three darts into the small Ace, the small 2 and the small three, but again not all the darts must land into the inner symbols of each set.
If a player lands a dart into the centre or inner targets of consecutively numbered symbols , then the player has made a running flush, hich is the fifth highest scoring range. For instance if a player lands three darts, with one in the centre or inner symbol 8, and the two remaining darts, in the inner symbols 9 and 10, then the player has obtained 8,9,10 bouncing or 8,9 and 10, running flush. The sixth highest symbol scoring range are the priles, and priles are obtained by landing all three darts into the inner symbol of one target set, for instance, if a player lands three darts into the centre symbol of the 10th largest set, then the player has obtained a prile of tens. The highest prile and the highest score on the board is a prile of threes which is obtained by landing three darts into the inner symbol, of the smallest symbol set on the board, which is the small three symbol set. The face cards, Jack, Queen, King are the 11th, 12th, and 13th largest symbol set on the board, respectively. The sizes of the larger outer diameters of each symbol set can be as follows, with the target sizes decreasing subsequently insize, starting from the largest outer symbol. 61 5mm, 60mm, 58* 5mm, 57mm, 55• 5mm, 54mm, 52 -Smm, 51mm, 49- 5mm,48mrπ, 46*5mm, 45mm, 43'5mm, 42mm 40*5mm,39mm.
The inside diameters of these same symbol sets can be. as follows, starting from the largest inner symbol, to the subsequently smallest inner diameter.
38mm, 37mm, 36mm, 35mm, 34mm, 33mm, 32mm, 31mm, 30mm, 29mm, 28mm, 27mm, 26mm, 25mm, 24mm, 23mm.Or 38mm, 36- 9mm, 35" 8mm, 34 -7mm, 33 '6mm, 32- 5mm, 31- 4mm, 30- 3mm, 29 • 2mm, 28 -1mm, 27mm, 25- 9mm, 24- βmπi , 23 7,22 6 and 21 5mm.A specific embodiement of the Model B dartboard, will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing of the Model B board.
