Abstract

Dans un réseau longue portée (WAN) configuré de façon à servir de réseau local (LAN) pour permettre aux clients (PC par exemple) d'accéder à Internet, un serveur de protocoles de configuration d'hôtes dynamique (DHCP) génère une table de protocole de conversion d'adresses (ARP) ou des rubriques d'antémémoire en réponse aux messages DHCP reçus desdits clients. Les rubriques ARP sont l'interface logique des clients, l'adresse IP, l'adresse matériel et l'identificateur de connexion réseau (tel qu'un identificateur de circuit virtuel (VC)). Le serveur DHCP n'est donc pas obligé de diffuser des demandes ARP pour obtenir les adresses clients et/ou peut ignorer les réponses ARP présumées ou réelles entrantes, ce qui diminue le trafic WAN et rend le réseau plus sûr.
