Abstract
This invention provides both greater hygiene and comfort for consumers, protecting their health and facilitating the handling of the product. The hygienic top comprises a wider opening ring (3) attached by a fixed or rotary pin to the ring pull top (4), with the opening (6) at its lower part close to the rim or the can. This set detaches itself outwardly from the can. The Hygienic Top also has a raised fixed part (2) that acts as a barrier against impurities and facilitates handling of the opening ring (3).
Description
"HYGIENIC TOP FOR LIQUID CONTENTS CAN"
Patent for can container top for liquids (beer, soft drinks, juices, etc.) providing a higher degree of hygiene and comfort for consumers.
Currently can containers for liquids employ tops that open inwards, contaminating contents with impurities present on the top itself. Also, the type of ring used is very small and flush with the top, difficult to grasp and the opening away from the edge of the can makes flow difficult favoring the accumulation of impurities that are swallowed by consumers.
In order to solve these problems I have developed this invention, in which the detachable top opens out from the can, avoiding contamination of the contents and thus preserving consumer health and product integrity.
Part of the top is raised, acting as a barrier preventing ingestion if impurities.
This raised base facilitates grasping the opening ring, made slightly larger to provide a better finger-hold. The ring was fixed to the ring pull top with a pin circled by the indentation of the opening hole forming a complete ring pull top opening set.
The opening was also widened at its bottom part to be as close as possible to the edge of the can, facilitating flow and avoiding accumulation of impurities, right on the point of contact with consumers' mouth.
This invention can be better understood with the following detailed description of the models and figures enclosed:
MODEL 1 Figure 1 - Front view of closed top
Figure 2 - Front view of open top
Figure 3 - Front view of ring pull top
Figure 4 - Section, profile, of top
As regards these figures, model 1 shows (Fig.1 ) the opening ring (3) fixed to the ring pull top (4) by a fixed pin (5) located at the lower third of
the top placed on the fixed raised part (2).
The indentation of the ring pull top (4) is also behind the fixed pin
(5) forming a complete ring pull top set.
With an easier hold on the opening ring (3) due to its wider distance from the lower fixed part (1 ) and larger size, a light pull on the ring (3) starts tearing along the indentation of the ring pull top (4) until it is completely cut off (Fig.2) and detached (Fig.3) from the can. The opening
(6) of the top was widened at its lower end, staying nearly on the rim of the can, easing flow and avoiding accumulation of impurities. It can be seen (Fig.2) that the raised part (2) extending towards the edge of the top acts as a barrier to impurities along its full length.
Section AA, in profile, shows (Fig.4): the positioning of the lowered fixed part, the distance from the opening ring, the raised fixed part and the position of the fixed pin.
MODEL 2
Figure 1 - Front view of closed top
Figure 2 - Front view of open top
Figure 3 - Front view of ring pull top Figure 4 - Section, profile, of top
As can be seen from the model 2 figures, (Fig.1 ) the opening ring
(3) is fixed (5) exactly at the center of the top and the ring pull top has a new format (4).
All the other features and configurations of model 2 are identical to model 1, having the same advantages. Likewise, all procedures for opening the can are identical to model 1 , with the same results.
MODEL 3
Figure 1 - Front view of closed top Figure 2 - Front view of open top
Figure 3 - Front view of ring pull top Figure 4 - Section, profile, of top
This model 3 is simpler. In Figure 1 , the opening pin (3) is fixed to the ring pull top (4) by the fixed pin (5) at the center of the top and placed on the lowered fixed part (1 ).
The indentation on the ring pull top (4) is also placed behind the fixed pin (5), circling it, forming a ring pull top set.
It can be seen (Fig.2) that the opening (6) at its lower end has also been widened, coming nearly to the edge. To open the top we adopt the same procedure as for models 1 and 2, with the ring pull top set opening outwards from the can.
In Fig.4, section CC, we can see in profile how the ring pull top set is placed. MODEL 4 Figure 1 - Front view of closed top Figure 2 - Front view of open top Figure 3 - Front view of ring pull top Figure 4 - Section, profile, of top
From this model's figures we can see that (Fig. l) the opening ring (3) is fixed by a rotary pin (5) on the raised fixed part (2), and the lower end of the opening ring (3) is attached to the ring pull top (4) by a weld point (Fig.3). Opposite the weld, at the extreme lower point of the opening ring (3) it forms a small wedge (Fig.3) placed on the indentation of the ring pull top (Fig.4). By pressing down the end of the ring, the small wedge starts cutting the indentation of the ring pull top (4). In this model the indentation does not circle the rotary pin (5) and the opening ring stays attached to the raised fixed part (2). After this initial move down, when the ring pull top is perforated, the ring is pulled up (3). With the ring pull top attached to the weld the total cutting along the indentation is accomplished, but instead
of being withdrawn it is held by the rotary pin (5) to the raised fixed part (2).
By moving left or right the ring pull top set is shifted towards the upper part of the top, with the rotary pin turning on its own axis (5) and opening the can (Fig.2).
With the top of the can open we may, if desirable, shift the ring pull top set to the left or to the right, covering or uncovering the opening (6), as required or in order to protect contents of the can.
