Abstract

The present invention pertains to the field of machine-tooling, more precisely to that of metal-cutting instruments, and essentially relates to double-sided removable cutting plates (DSRCP) for various cutting instruments. The purpose of this invention is to improve the DSRCP by modifying the shape of its rear surface. It is thus possible to reduce the front angle of the cutting instrument to nearly 0° due to the corresponding assembly of the DSRCP in its holder, and to set the rear angle at an optimal value since it does not depend anymore on the front angle. The functional capacities of the DSRCP can thus be improved together with its resistance. Cutting instruments fitted with such a DSRCP can be used for cutting a wide range of alloys. A traditional DSRCP can thus be improved by providing its cutting edges (1, 2, 3, 4 and 10, 11, 12, 13) and its cutting summits (5, 6, 7, 8 and 14, 15, 16, 17) on its different sides (9 and 18) and by forming the rear surface therebetween. The rear surface (19, 20) of the DSRCP comprises a depression (ABC) that determines the rear angles (α) of the cutting edges (1, 2, 3, 4 and 10, 11, 12, 13) and of the cutting summits (5, 6, 7, 8 and 14, 15, 16, 17).
