Read / write device for a memory card comprising a card body provided with electronic circuits connected to antenna means, characterized in that it comprises a frame having a first portion of frame and a second portion of frame, the two frame portions defining between them a slot capable of allowing passage for a card and two substantially identical coils forming an antenna, each coil being integral with one of the frame portions, so that the planes of the coils are parallel to each other and that the coils are opposite one another, the equivalent radius R of each coil being substantially equal to the distance H which separates the planes of the two coils; and means for applying the same current to the two coils and for receiving the signal collected by said coils.
