Abstract

The invention relates to ethoxylated allyloligoglycosides of the formula (I): R1O(CH2CH2O)n[G]p, wherein R1 represents an allyl radical, G represents a sugar radical with 5-6 carbon atoms an n and independently represent 1-10. The substances are obtained by acetalating glucose in the presence of basic catalysts with a molar surplus of ethoxylated allyl alcohol, the catalyst is subsequently neutralised and the unreacted allylalcoholpolyglycolether is removed by distillation. The glycosides can be optionally polymerised with comonomers and are thus suitable as co-builders for detergents or thickening agents for aqueous surfactant solutions.
