Abstract

Load securing device for goods in bags etc. in vehicle luggage compartments, the device comprising at least four support parts (1, 2, 3, 4) being interconnected in the longitudinal direction of the device, each support part (1, 2, 3, 4) being interconnected perpendicularly to the longitudinal with one ground part (8, 9, 10, 11), each ground part being foldable to right angle in respect to the surface of the support part, thereby to erect the device as a support for loads being placed on the ground parts and leaning towards the support parts, the ground parts being further able to be folded 180° to abut its support part, thereby allowing the device to be folded to a flat package by folding the outer support parts (1, 4) towards the middle parts (2, 3) with the purpose of storing the device when not in use.

Description

Load securing device for vehicle luσσaσe compartment
The present invention is related to a load securing device for goods in bags etc in vehicle luggage compartments, according to the preamble of the claims.
Recent years developments have been made for securing loads of different kinds in vehicle luggage compartments in which bags and other goods frequently are thrown from side to side in the compartment as well as forward and backward during driving of the vehicle. Suggestions for such devices are described in for example GB 2 229 982, GB 2 292 548, US 4 746 041, US 5 129 612, WO 96/03293 and WO 97/28022.
Known devices giving effective support for bags and such in a vehicle luggage compartment, however, on the other hand frequently occupies rather large spaces in the compartment even when not in use. Furthermore some of the devices are rather circumstantial to use.
With the device according to the present invention, however, a load securing device for vehicles is provided, giving good support for articles of different kinds in a vehicle luggage compartment and simultaneously being quickly and easily foldable to provide a flat book-like package which can stored anywhere.
The drawing discloses in figure 1 schematically the device in a ground view as produced, figure 2 discloses the device in a ground view assembled for use, figure 3 discloses the device on figure 2 in a perspective view, figure 4 discloses a detail from the top of the device, figure 5 discloses one embodiment of the connection between the floor plates, and figure 6 discloses in a perspective view, a device according to the invention folded to a resting position.
The device according to the present invention preferably is manufactured as one unit, substantially as disclosed in figure 1, comprising interconnected flat parts, all together 11 parts as disclosed in the figure. The device according to the invention, however, may have other configurations and a higher or lower number of parts.
The support parts 1 and 2 are interconnected with an intermediate part 5 and correspondingly for the support parts 2, 3 and 4.
One ground part 8 respectively 9, 10 and 11 is interconnected with each support part respectively 1, 2, 3 and 4 in such a way that they may be bent to an right angle in relation 5 to the corresponding support part thereby to establish an angle standing on the floor. Furthermore the ground parts also may be folded further towards the support parts for reasons to be described below.
The underside of the ground parts 8, 9, 10 and 11 all o being provided with Vecro-strips or other means to connect the ground parts 8-11 and thereby the device as such to the floor of the vehicle luggage compartment.
The ground parts 8, 9, 10 and 11 all have portions which are adapted for connection with the adjacent part, the s edges of which being prepared preferably according to the tongue and groove principle.
When the device is erected as disclosed in figure 3 the ground parts 8, 9, 10 and 11 also are interlocked with the tongue and groove principle or similar means. The ground parts further o are locked in this position with a tag 12 for snap-locking of one ground part to the neighbouring ground part thereby enabling the device to be handled as one unit without falling apart in the erected position.
The device according to the invention may be folded 5 when not in use by folding the ground parts 8, 9, 10 and 11 respectively against the support parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 as seen on figure 1, whereafter the support part 1 with the ground part 8 is folded inwardly above the support part 2 and the ground part 9 and correspondingly for the support part 4 and the ground part o ll. Afterwards the two support parts 2 and 3 may be folded together and the device as such is folded together in a book-like fashion and size. The folded device is shown on figure 6.
The interconnections between the intermediate parts 5, 6 and 7 and the support parts 1-4 and between the support parts 5 1-4 and the ground parts 8-11 may be achieved by a flexible layer covering being glued to all parts or preferably by interconnections made when moulding all parts as one unit of suitable plastics materials.
