Description

LEAD THROUGH FOR A CABLE OR A PIPE
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a cable or tube entry, preferably arranged in an electrical junction box intended for outside installation e.g. on a wall. Cables or tubes withholding cables are also intended for laying on the outside of the wall and into the junction box. BACKGROUND TECHNICS
Junction boxes for outside installation show a bottom provided with a surrounding rim in which the entries are arranged mainly in the middle of the rim and located in some distance from the bottom of the box. A disadvantage with that location of the entries is that cables intended to be laid outside e.g. a wall and into the junction box have to be bent from the wall in order to get introduced into the box. That is time-consuming and sometimes even aesthetically less attractive. In order to avoid the bending of the cables junction boxes have been developed in which the entry holes have been placed closest to the bottom of the box. Such a junction box is described in the Swedish patent application SE 396 165. The entry holes also may show elastic membranes intended to be penetrated with the cables and then give a tightening between box and cables. However, the problem with the bending of cables remains in case their diameter is considerably smaller than the entry holes as the membrane only can be penetrated in its centre, which is in a relatively great distance from the bottom of the box. The object of the present invention is to clear away this problem. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The cable and tube entry according to the invention may e.g. be arranged in an electrical junction box that shows a bottom provided with a surrounding rim, the mentioned entry being arranged in the rim or similar means closest to the bottom and shows an elastic membrane intended to be penetrated with a cable or a tube . The elastic membrane shows an eccentrically arranged notch for the penetration located closest to the bottom of the box which admits that even cables with a considerable smaller diameter then the diameter of the entry hole may be introduced through the membrane without needing be bent from a ground as e.g. a wall on which the cables are visibly laid.
Further features and characteristics concerning the present invention are evident from the description to the drawings below and from the claims. DESCRIPTION TO THE DRAWINGS
The invention is described below as an example of an embodiment in connection with the enclosed drawings .
Figure 1 shows a junction box provided with entries according to the invention in a vertical sectional view.
Figure 2 shows the junction box according to figure 1 seen from above.
Figure 3 shows the junction box according to figure 1 seen in a perspective diagonally from above.
Figure 4 shows a vertical section through an entry along line I-I in figure 1. The junction box that is shown in figures 1-3 comprises a box 1 showing a square bottom 1.1 with a surrounding rim 1.2. The box 1 is covered with a slightly curved cap 2.
The rim 1.2 shows different kinds of entries which all comes within the scope of the invention.
A first type of entry consists of a circular hole 3 in which an elastic plug provided with a snap- in locking is intended to be affixed, the plug itself showing a membrane with a notch for penetration with e.g. a cable .
A second type of entry consists of a circular elastic membrane 4, which is a part of the rim 1.2 and which is provided with a centrally arranged notch 4.1 for penetration with e.g. a cable. The rim 1.2 then is made of partly an interior elastic layer, partly a hard exterior layer provided with circular holes in which the interior layer stands out and constitutes a membrane 4. A third type of entry consists of a circular elastic membrane 5, which is a part of the rim 1.2 like the entry 3 mentioned before, but which is provided with an eccentrically arranged notch 5.1, located at the lower edge of the entry. Figure 4 shows a cross-section of the eccentric membrane 5 that shows the notch 5.1 for the cable entry located nearest to the bottom 1.1 of the box 1.
By placing the entries 3, 4, 5 as close as possible to the bottom 1.1 of the box 1, the electric wires that are laid upon the wall may be laid into the junction box without needing be bent. Through the eccentric membrane 5 with the notches 5.1 placed closest to the bottom 1.1 of the box 1, even cables with a considerable smaller diameter than the entry hole may be laid into the box without needing be bent, as the membrane 5 may be penetrated closest to the bottom 1.1 of the box 1.
It lies within the scope of the invention to also work out membrane provided plugs for circular holes 3 with an eccentric notch for penetration with e.g. a cable. It is also thinkable to have the holes show the form of polygons or be irregular formed. It also lies within the scope of the invention to use the entry according to the invention related to other electric details than junction boxes as houses and cases in general preferably intended for visible installation and with visible cable-laying.

Claims

1. Cable and tube entry, e.g. arranged in an electric junction box (1) showing a bottom (1.1) provided with a surrounding rim (1.2), the mentioned entry being arranged in the rim (1.2) or similar means closest to the bottom (1.1) and showing an elastic membrane (5) intended to be penetrated with a cable or a tube, charac ter i s ed in that the elastic membrane (5) shows an eccentrically arranged notch (5.1) for the penetration located at the bottom (1.1) of the box (1).
2. Entry according to claim 1, charac ter i s ed in that the membrane (5) is arranged in an elastic plug that is intended to be fixed in an entry hole (3) in the rim (1.2) or similar means.
3. Entry according to claim 1, charac t eri s ed in that the membrane (5) is a part of the rim (1.2) or similar means, which then is made of a hard exterior layer with entry holes (3) that are covered by an interior layer which constitutes a membrane (5) at the entry holes (3) .
