Description
DEVICE FORLIFTING UP AND COLLECTING DOG WASTE
The present invention relates to devices lifting up and collecting solids, particularly dog waste, in playing grounds, lawns and streets, in order to maintain public places clean and is particularly concerned with the touchless devices for that purposes.
The device is also meant for use in retailing, for touchless handling and packing products, mainly food products, and for use in health service e.g. in hospitals for handling both sterile and infected objects.
At present, dog waste is removed from streets, by the appropriate services within the general scope of their duties, by means of hand operated or mechanical device, commonly used for these purposes disregarding the type of removed rubbish.
Whenever dog owners are obliged to clean after their pets, the cleaning is performed by means of small garden tools or household appliances such as spades, shovels, brooms, brushes etc.
In particular, the universal device for collecting waste, particularly dog waste, in public places and for throwing it into receptacles, known from the international patent application PCT/HU/92/00061 , comprises a bar having the length of a walking stick with a covered cylindrical
collecting element, operated by means of a lever, fixed at its lower end, with a bag on the other end of the element.
That device directly touches the waste, requires the use of both hands for taking off the bag from it and application of a brush for picking up the waste in completely flat places or places with a difficult access. It can not be used for different applications and takes up a lot of space.
The device disclosed in the Polish industrial design application no. W 98164 , in the form of pincers with two shaped arms, is meant for servicing barbecue or carrying over small pastries. The pincers directly touch handled articles and are not suitable for their simultaneous packing.
Known devices have direct contact with lifted up, or handled otherwise, products. It does not ensure the required hygienic conditions, neither while handling clean nor while handling dirty articles.
Additionally, the known devices require the use of both hands to pack the solids, or articles, lifted up, which is particularly difficult in case of holding a dog on a leash at the same time. The devices available commercially do not provide the means for immediate, hermetic closing of the container with collected waste, or other products, using the same device as used for collecting them.
The aim of the invention is to provide a specialised device for touchless lifting up and collecting solid bodies, both clean and dirty, with the use of one hand only, and
possibly also for immediate hermetic closing of the container with collected solid bodies, or other articles.
The device for touchless lifting up and collecting solid bodies, particularly dog waste, according to the invention, is in the form of pincers with shaped arms, and it has got a collecting bag on its arms for collecting and carrying the lifted items.
Preferably, each of the arms is in the shape of a handle with a scoop.
The handle is adapted to the shape of the hand, and the general shape of the arms is such, that, pressed together, the arms meet at their front edges through the bag, leaving free room between the scoops, which prevents crushing collected waste or other articles.
Preferably, the device has got an arm spreading spring situated in the arm handles.
Preferably, the device has got collecting bag retainers on its arms, situated on their external surfaces. The retainers keep the bag on the arms of the device, at its entry.
Preferably, the device has got bonding strips, electrically powered by the mains or batteries, forming on electrical bonding device for closing plastic bags.
Preferably, the collecting bag has got a protective fold and a collecting pocket. The protective fold, formed by turning the bag inside out, has the form of a cuff containing both scoops. The remaining part of the bag forms the
3
collecting pocket inserted obliquely between horizontally held arm to hang between them.
The device according to the invention has got simple reliable construction for multiple use. It is easy to apply fulfilling hygienic requirements in commerce and health service. It improves hygienic conditions in any circumstances. For removing waste the already utilised plastic bags, such as carrier bags, lunch bags, milk bags and similar, could be used again (recycling) .
The device is still clean after its application. It could be used again.
The object of invention will now be described in its exemplifying embodiment with reference to the drawing, in which fig.l presents the front elevation of the device in orthographic projection, and fig.2 presents the device without the bag in oblique side projection.
The device according to the invention has got two arms
1_ joined movably, shaped to form handles 2_ and scoops
_3 . Two retainers _4 of the collecting bag !5 are situated on external sides of the arms 1_ . The collecting bag _5 forms the protective fold (3a and the collective pocket βb .
The device could be provided with the spreading spring
1_ for spreading the arms 1_ outwards, situated in the juncture of arms 1_ . If the arbor 8_ , with the cross- section of a flattened circle, is turned, it spreads the arms
1_ and releases the spring 1_ . The device could have a
system for heat-closing the bag entry. The system consists of bonding strips ,9_ electrically powered by the mains, or by the batteries _1CJ placed in the handles 2_ . The switch 1_1_ closes the electrical circuit.
The edges 1_2 of the scoops _3 have got rounded corners 1^3 .
In order to apply the device the top edge of the bag should be caught by the retainers. Then the cuff-like protective fold should be formed by turning the bag inside out. The protective fold prevents the content of the bag from falling out, as well as from dirtying the device or the user's hands. The width of the fold is adjusted according to the needs. The remaining part of the bag is inserted obliquely, between horizontally held arms of the device, and its bottom directed for it to form the collecting pocket, hanging between the arms of the device.
The chosen object is caught with the scoops, to be placed between the arms, squeezed and lifted up, with the simultaneous turning of the scoops upwards, which causes moving the object to the collecting pocket.
Afterwards the device is ready to repeat the process. When the bag is full, the holders are released and the bag separates from the device under the pull of its content. If the device is provided with a heat-closing system the bag entry is formed to fit all between the squeezed bonding strips, as enabled by the rounded corners of the scoops.
After closing the electrical circuit the strips become hot and bonding of the plastic layers takes place.
The object of the invention could be used whenever, due to hygienic or safety requirements, the handled items should not be touched as well as for collecting rubbish, particularly dog waste e.g. in urban areas.
