Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé servant à fabriquer des composites thermoplastiques à partir de thermoplastiques recyclés (polyoléfines) conjointement avec des sous-produits à base de déchets de phosphogypse provenant de la fabrication par voie humide d'engrais phosphatés, ou, dans un mode de réalisation également préféré, conjointement avec des sous-produits à base de déchets de fluorogypse provenant de la production par voie humide de fluor, afin d'obtenir des profilés en bois d'oeuvre. Ce procédé consiste: (a) à mélanger les sous-produits à base de déchets de phosphogypse (sulfate de calcium) ou de fluorogypse (fluorure de calcium) avec des thermoplastiques et un composé fonctionnalisé avec ou sans agents de couplage, afin de produire une composition de composite thermoplastique chargé; et (b) à traiter à chaud cette composition, pour produire un article en composite thermoplastique chargé. Ces articles se présentent de préférence sous la forme de traverses de chemin de fer ou d'articles de construction, tels que des profilés en bois d'oeuvre communs, des panneaux, des éléments de carrelage, des poteaux, des poteaux de ligne, des traverses pour poteaux de ligne, des tuiles de toit, des socles de canalisations, des pieux, des pieux de défenses marines, y compris des pieux photosensibles, des cloisons, des revêtements, et ils sont utiles pour la construction de diverses structures, telles que des chemins en planches pour champs pétrolifères et des mats de matériels d'équipement. Ce procédé évite l'accumulation de piles de phosphogypse/fluorogypse non désirées et fournit des produits utiles respectant l'environnement, qui ne nécessitent pas d'agents de conservation chimiques pour empêcher l'infestation par les insectes ou la dégradation par les intempéries. Des résidus provenant du traitement de minerais peuvent également être utilisés comme charge.
