Abstract

The present invention concerns a method and a device for producing different filled chocolates (12) in the same casting mould (10), provided with a number of cavities (11). Firstly, shells are moulded in all the cavities then fill is added to the shells, and the bottom is moulded onto the shells. Between every step there is refrigeration. Finished chocolates (12) are transported from the casting mould (10) for subsequent packing. The step comprising moulding of shells includes the possibility to mould shells of different types of chocolate, such as dark on light chocolate. The step comprising adding of fill to the shells includes the possibility to add different types of fill, and the step comprising moulding of bottoms to the shells includes the possibility to mould bottoms of different types of chocolates. The finished chocolates (12) are transported from the casting mould (10) to a sales unit (13), having the same relative location in the sales unit (13) as in the casting mould (10).

Description

Method and device for production of different filled chocolates.
• The present invention relates to a method and device for the production of different filled chocolates according to the preamble of the independent claims. It is previously .known to produce filled chocolates in a moulding plant, where one moulding plant can only produce one type of chocolate at one time. In such a plant a huge number of casting moulds will be transported automatically from one station to another. Every mould will have a number of cavities which thereby forms the piece of chocolate. It is possible to produce pieces with different shapes, but this is dependent upon the mould in the plant. If other types of chocolates are to be produced, the plant must be shut off and cleaned, the moulds must be replaced, and another type of chocolate and fill must be added.
The first station is moulding of shells. Here all the cavities in the mould will be filled with the chocolate which will form the shell. Subsequently the mould will be turned upside down and shaken so that only a coating will be left. After it is scraped clean, the mould will go through a refrigeration phase and the coating will be cooled out and thus form the shell of the chocolate.
The next station introduces the filling where all shells in a casting mould are moulded with the same type of fill. After some further shaking, the fill will be lead into a cooling process. The third station moulds the bottoms where all the pieces in a mould will be moulded full of the same type of chocolate. The extra chocolate is normally scraped off, and the mould is refrigerated so that the bottom and the shell/filling hardens.
At the last station, the pieces are removed from the mould either by turning the mould upside down or by vacuum, and the mould continues a new round in the plant. The finished pieces are normally temporarily stored, and together with other pieces from the stock they are packed into a sales unit, for example a confectionary box.
The disadvantage with this .known technique is that it is only possible to produce one type of chocolate at any given time, within the same production line. When several different pieces should be produced, this must be done in different production lines. Alternatively the plant must be shut off and cleaned, the moulds replaced, and another type of chocolate and fill added to the plant, before it is be restarted.
An object of the present invention is therefore to provide a device and a method where all the different pieces are produced and packed into the same box, in one production line. 2
The object is fulfilled with a method and respectively a device, according to the characteristic part of the independent claims.
According to the present invention it is possible to mould several different chocolates in the same casting mould. This mould has different cavities corresponding to the geometric shape of the individual pieces. Furthermore, the location of the chocolates in the mould corresponds to the location in the finished confectionary box, however, there may be a larger distance between the pieces.
In the following the invention will be further described with reference to an example of an embodiment illustrated by the accompanying drawing, which shows a sketch of a production line according to the present invention.
The drawing has different hatches to illustrate light and dark chocolate, and three types of fill. The process according to the invention is shown as step 1-9 in the drawing which represents a simplification of a production line.
In step 1 there is a casting mould 10 of a known type comprising a number of cavities 11, with a shape deciding the final form of the chocolates 12. In step 1, the casting mould 10 is washed and prepared for moulding of new chocolates 12.
In step 2, the shells of the chocolates 12 are moulded. Different types of melted chocolate can here be added by moulding machines (not shown), for example different, alternatively split, moulding machines for light and dark chocolate. Afterwards, they are refrigerated in a common manner, or alternatively with use of a "frozen cone", as described in EP 0756455. The refrigeration is illustrated in step 3.
In step 4; moulding of fill, different types of fill can simultaneously be added to one or more pieces in the mould. This is done by a number of moulding machines (not shown), each having one type of fill and each filling one or more pieces, but several moulding machines, for example two to four, are integrated in the one process-step. It is also possible, within the scope of present invention, to place several moulding machines in section so that for example 12 different kinds of fill can be added with only three moulding machines in the same production line. After filling, the pieces are refrigerated at step 5.
In step 6 the bottoms are simultaneously moulded with different types of chocolate, corresponding to the types which were moulded in step 2. The bottom is moulded very accurately, so there is no need for following scraping of the surface of the mould. Then the pieces are again refrigerated at step 7.
In step 8-9, the chocolates 12, with bottoms up, are lifted out of the mould using vacuum- lifters (not shown) (step 8). Afterwards, the chocolates 12 are automatically transferred to 3 new cupping glasses (to be turned) and then laid in a sales unit 13 (step 9) with the same pattern as they were moulded in the casting mould 10.
From the production point of view, it may be necessary that the distance between the chocolates 12 in the casting mould 10 is larger than what is desirable in the sales unit 13. If so, the chocolates 12 can be drawn together in the lifting device between step 8 and 9. However, it is not the premise that the chocolates should change mutual position.
