Abstract

A container for storing/dispensing bags (2) for collecting dog's excrements comprising a hollow housing (1) with a well/bed (4) for the bags (2) and with a corresponding lid (5). The container (1) or lid (5) is equipped with a slot/aperture (6) through which the bags may be drawn. The container/dispenser is also equipped with securing devices for placing it on any part of the dog's collar, leash or on the owner's clothes.

Description

Container/dispenser for bags intended for collecting dogs excrements .
The present invention concerns a dispensing/storing container for bags being intended for collecting dogs excrements .
The situation when walking dogs is often that one has brought along too few or no collecting bags for the dog's excrements so that when the dog is shitting one has none or one is out of such, and one has to leave the excrements, often to the irritation both for one self and for others .
Some have solved this problem by tying one or two bags to the leash being used when the dog is walked, but these have to be replaced after they have been used, and this has as a consequence that one at any time must remember this for not getting into the above indicated situation. Additionally such loose bags will be a bother when walking the dog because they waive uncontrollably in the wind and are at times in the way when a better grip is to be held on the leash.
Thus there exists a need for bag containers which may be secured to the walking leash itself or the collar of the dog or which may be carried in other places, e.g. clothes, in a belt or in a pocket when walking dogs . The bag container according to the invention will preferably have the form of a flattened cylinder or an elongated cylinder with a slot for drawing out bags from the internal room of the cylinder. However, also other cross-sectional forms and shapes are conceivable, e.g squares ovals, etc..
Additionally a purpose of the container/dispenser according to the present invention is to form a small and convenient device which is easy to handle and which does not require that extra accessories are strapped to the dog. The device according to the present invention will occupy very little space and may be secured to a conventional leash or a flexible leash (e.g. a leash sold under the trade mark
"Flexi") and which fits all kinds of such leashes.
A further and preferred feature of the container/dispenser of dog's bags according to the present invention is the design of the dispenser opening of the container. Said opening is designed with a "squiggle"- or N-form at its approximate middle point . This design has the purpose of providing a tearing edge which at the same time holds the web of the bags in the bag roll or stack secure as one bag is torn off the web.
There is previously known other devices with the same purpose as the container/dispenser according to the present invention, but they are all encumbered by severe drawbacks and limitations.
Thus US patent 5.441.017 discloses an assembly for a bag container for excrement bags being integrated with a leash for dogs . In this device the bag container and the leash are inseparable as one integral piece, and even if the such a device may function satisfactory for its purpose, the dog owner will, with such a device be limited to using a leash of a set length since the container necessarily must be secured to a leash or chain or some other form of elongated band. Additionally such a device as disclosed in US patent 5.441.017 holds a scoop, something which makes the device rather cumbersome . A scoop is not necessary for removing the excrements of a dog.
In patent application WO 95/18526 there is disclosed a container which specifically is made of cardboard and which contains a roll of dog excrement bags. This container is formed from a cardboard pre-form by folding said pre-form in a special way. The bags are removed via a straight slot in the bottom of the container. The drawback with such a cardboard container is firstly that it is made of cardboard which is a material which, e.g. when it is raining, will become wet, water-sogged and will after some time disintegrate. Additionally the container is difficult to use when inserting a new roll of bags since the web of bags then will have to be drawn through the straight slot in the container requiring that the first bag of the web must be threaded through the relatively narrow slot at the bottom of the container.
All these drawbacks are avoided with the device according to the present invention which is a rigid structure, preferably made of a plastic material (or a metal or metal alloy) , and which may be used several times simply by putting a new roll or stack of bags inside the container. For this purpose the container may be split along its longitudinal axis, although it may also comprise a door at one of its ends for reloading the device with a new roll, stack or web of bags .
The container/dispenser according to the present invention will be disclosed infra with reference to embodiments which are also shown in the accompanying figures wherein:
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of the container/dispenser according to the invention seen from one of its ends;
fig. 2 shows the same embodiment as fig. 1 seen from the side;
fig. 3 shows the same embodiment as figs. 1 and 2, but seen from the back;
fig. 4 shows a different embodiment of the container/dispenser according to the invention seen from one of its ends;
fig. 5 shows the same embodiment as fig. 4, but seen from the side; fig. 6 shows the same embodiment as fig 4 and 5 from its side in cross section;
fig. 7 shows a cross-section of a third embodiment of a container/dispenser according to the invention;
fig. 8 shows the same embodiment as fig. 7, but seen from one end of the container/dispenser.
As shown in the figures the bag container/dispenser comprises a hollow housing 1 wherein a number of bags 2 may be located. On the back of the housing 1 there may be located securing devices 3 for securing the container dispenser at a suitable place. Such securing devices may be of a per se known type, and may e.g. comprise tape, velcro, hooks, needles etc..
Inside the housing 1 of the bag container according to the invention there is provided a well or bed 4 for the roll or stack of bags 2, this well or bed 4 being i.a. formed by a number of pegs or walls 9. The bags 2 many be placed in the well or bed 4 either as single bags, in the form of a bag roll or preferably as a folded stack of plastic bags, the plastic bags being present as a web with tear lines in the form of perforations in the web, and the web being welded intermittently between the perforations to make bags when the web is torn at the perforation tear line.
In the case where the web of plastic bags 2 comprises a roll being exited through a slot 6 in the side of the container housing 1, it is preferred that the starting of the web lies on the outside of the roll 2, the roll being free to rotate inside the well or bed 4. In the case where the web of plastic bags 2 comprises a roll of bags being exited through the end 5 of the container/dispenser, it is preferred that the first bag is taken form the center of the roll 2. In the case where the web of bags comprises a folded stack of bags, it is always natural to exit the first bag from the top of the stack, both when the container/dispenser is equipped with a exit slot 6 at its side and at its end.
To cover the housing 1 the housing 1 is equipped with a lid
5. Such a lid 5 will preferably fit outside the container housing 1 and may also be equipped with securing devices for securing it to the container/dispenser via per se known and conventional securing devices, e.g. hooks, threads, pegs etc.. It is preferred that the container lid is secured to the container housing 1 through threads.
In the container housing 1 or in the container lid 5 there will be present a slot or aperture 6 opening into the well or bed 4 in the container/dispenser housing 1. Through this slot or aperture the bags 2 may pass. In one embodiment the slot 6 is equipped with a pair of lips 7,8 of a soft and resilient material, e.g. plastic or rubber. However, this is not a requirement.
When using the container/dispenser according tot he invention, bags 2 may be drawn through the slot or aperture
6, and in the case where the bags are present as a roll or a folded stack, the bags are preferably present as a web where each bag is limited through a weld and a perforation of the web, as indicated supra. If such a web of bags is used, the web may be equipped with a bag of a different colour at the end of the roll or stack, e.g. the tenth last bag, to indicate that it is necessary to get a new roll or stack to replace the old one . In the case where the container/dispenser according to the invention is produced a throw-away article, such an indication will remind the user to get a new container/dispenser. It is of course also possible to indicate the end of the roll or stack of bags differently, e.g. by providing a mark such as a tape or a paper strip . The present invention has been disclosed supra with reference to certain embodiments being shown in the figures, but also another embodiments may be envisaged without the idea behind the invention being compromised. It may e.g. be conceivable that the bag container housing 1 is not given a round shape, but instead a different shape such as square, hexagonal or oval or any other shape without there being any deviation from the idea behind the invention.
