Definitions
- a method to simulate movement of a portion (portions) of a doll means for manipulating to give a doll an expressive mimik and/or a body language, and a doll with mimik and/or a body language.
- the present invention relates to a method to simulate movement of a portion (portions) of a doll, means for manipulating to give a doll an expressive mimik and/or a body language, and a doll with mimik and/or body language.
- the mimik and the talk of the mother (preferably the pitch of the voice) will be grasped by the child and will act directely into the its brain, meaning that the child during its adventurous discovery of the environment, with a mental support from its mother, can settle regular neural patterns for recognition and references. This will give the child experiences as a base for further finding out the surroundings. This early interaction with another person is a prerequisite for the future individual mental grow.
- the woman/mother of the child who is emotionally tied up to the child has an unique capacity to read the mimik and the body language of her child and is capable to give the well-balanced stimuli making the child confident to test its talents and expand its own world.
- the small differences existing in nuances in the mimik, but also in the body language of both the child and the mother during their communication, can be seen as a mutual broad transmission of empatic information.
- the small children playing with dolls can be seen as an important preparation for a later role as a parent.
- the fantasy of a child can make a doll live also when the doll is a piece of wood with a painted face. Children without a stimulating growth, or children having a less developed or slumbering fantasy may need stimuli to initiate a strait play with dolls.
- the doll may need correct human proportions regarding weight and length and also a more distinct face.
- the main object of the present invention is to obtain a technique making a doll express itself by movement, preferably by having an expressive face portion, but also by being able to perform a restricted movement of head, and/or body, arms, and/or of legs.
- Another object of the invention is to obtain a method to build a doll's head facilitating the forming of the expressive face portion.
- Yet another object with the invention is to obtain a doll with a mimik/body language being static, but which can be dynamically developed, perhaps from outer stimuli, e.g. when spoken to and/or when touched.
- the doll By filling the doll, defined by a formable outer envelope consisting of several pieces of a textil material being form cut and connected and having a greater transverse flexibility compared to its longitudinal fexibility, with a resilient filling, it is possible to give especially the face portion of the doll sculpturally rounded forms and cavities.
- the stuffing of the filling especially in the head should be performed by a person continously estimating how hard the filling shall be stuffed into the head.
- pulling means forming the eye sockets in the head is brought in order. After that the filling is continued with the nose portion also being fo ⁇ ned by stretching pulling means, which also is valid for cheeks, mouth and chin.
- the manipulating means consist of threads being stretched between the outer envelope of the face portion and the interior of the doll (perhaps to the back of the head), which will give the doll's face a certain expression dependent upon which of the threads are stretched and how hard this stretching is.
- the manipulating means are motor driven eccentric or bracing means, each manipulating just certain selected portions of the face and being controlled by e.g. the voice and a microprocessor equipped system.
- Fig. 1 is a diagrammatic view of a face portion of a doll seen from ahead with marks for the positions suitable to use to attach pulling means and to form the expressions of the doll ' s face;
- Fig. 2 is a view from behind of the doll according to the invention showing the form cutting of the different textile material for forming the head of the doll;
- Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic view of motor driven manipulating means arranged to influence the mimik of the doll
- Fig. 4 is a diagrammatic view of a motor driven manipulating means arranged to influence the body language of a doll - here it is the front portion of the foot being activable;
- Fig. 5 is a diagrammatic view showing how a microprocessor recieves information and controls the current to motors at manipulating means at the same time as the counter-current is recorded.
- FIG. 1 an example is shown how needles are pinned into a doll's head 1 at different places.
- the head consists of various cut pattern pieces 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 of a textile material and pulling means can "draw in” different portions of the face to give this a personal appearance with a drawn in root of the nose 10, countersunk eye sockets 7, 8, pouting cheeks, protruding nose 9, trace of a chin, etc.
- the points A - N shown are places on the face portion which can be drawn in with one or several stitches to have the sculptural effect.
- a view from behind of the doll is shown where the form cutting of the different pieces of textile material, and especially the rear headpiece 11 for forming the scull 1 of the doll are shown.
- the two textile pieces 12a and 12b are connected by a central longitudinal straight joint 13.
- an electric motor 14 is shown forming a manipulating means together with a pulling thread 17 and a flexible pipe 16, into which said pulling thread goes to the tip of a doll ' s foot 19.
- a bracing means 18 is arranged at the end of the flexible pipe 16 at a distance from the tip 19 of the foot.
- bracing means (not shown) along with the flexible pipe which in this case is some resilient which means that with the one and same electric motor a first deflecting upwards of the tip of the foot can be achived and with a continuing unwinding of the pulling thread 17 other bracing means can achive active positions and thus be able to move the whole lower part of the leg (the leg) towards the body.
- an electric motor 14' is cooperating with a pulling thread 17' and with a flexible pipe having bracing means 18', whereby the end of the pulling thread 17'c is attached in a pulling means 20 (here a thread) being connected at the outer part of the eye socket and at the comer of the mouth.
- a pulling means 20 here a thread
- the electric motor 14' is activated a smile in the face of the doll will be produced.
- two flexible pipes, one for each side of the face are connected to the one and same electric motor.
- two electric motors i.e. one electric motor for each half of the face.
- a microprocessor 21 supported by a battery 22 is used to recieve signals from sensors 23, and which, depending on the programmed instructions, will send instructions to different activating means, e.g. electric motors 14a - 14c.
- the microprocessor can record the counter current produced when a pulling thread reches its fully extended position and starts to unwind in the opposite direction. Thus it will be easy to find the way back to an initial position. Instead of activating the electric motor 14 the microprocessor can activate syntetic voice activators with a certain repertoire of different sounds.
