Definitions

  • the invention concerns a three- or four-wheeled vehicle, especially a cycle with an axle beam which is pivotably secured to a frame, and where be- tween the frame and beam there is also a connection or balance bar which stabilizes the vehicle during turns as a function of the degree and direction of the turning angle.
  • This cycle also has the possibility of maintaining a certain tilt for riding on slopes. This is effected by means of a plate which is mounted in a fixed manner on one of the horizontal, parallel connection rods, and a bolt which passes through the second parallel connection rod, said bolt sliding in a slideway in the plate.
  • the desired degree to which the cycle is tilted is maintained by tightening the bolt.
  • the tightening arrangement is not a universal solution, but is configured especially for this form of parallel guiding which is used for the tilting of precisely this cycle.
  • US Patent no. 3,958,814 also describes a cycle with two tumable front wheels, where the tilt of the cycle frame in relation to an axle beam can be limited or made free.
  • This solution is not particularly expedient, the reason being that it is possible for the rider to tilt the cycle opposite to the turning direction, which with great probability can result in the cycle toppling over. Consequently, especially users who have difficulty in maintaining their balance will have problems in using a cycle of this construction.
  • the object of the invention It is the object of the invention to provide a vehicle of the kind described in the introduction, comprising a balance bar which can be variably adjusted in accordance with the desired degree of tilt.
  • the cycle Due to the very low main frame, the cycle has a very low mounting height, which in turn contributes towards giving the cycle a lower centre of gravity, which is the point to which the cycle's main frame is pivotably secured, and which increases the stability when turning corners.
  • the actual tilting of the cycle is effected by a rod connection between a steering arm and the front stem on the cycle's frame, whereby the steering of the cycle forces the frame to tilt in the desired direction.
  • the actual am- plitude of the tilt can be adjusted by means of a control arm arranged for this purpose, and which is provided with a number of holes in which the rod connection can be secured in a pivotable manner. In this way it is achieved that the degree of tilt can be adjusted as desired.
