Description
Description
A crane with variable positioning which can be mounted on a vehicle, an the venicle on which the crane is mounted.
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a crane which can be mounted on a mobile vehicle. The present invention also relates to a vehicle on which the crane wnich is the subject matter of the nresent invention is mounted
Backσround Art
A problem whicn affects vehicles in general, and m particular trucks on which such types of cranes are mounted, is the excessive neight of the cranes when m the home condition.
In fact, m the home condition, such cranes extend beyond the upper edge of the truck cab. This is a problem, for example, when the truck is to be transported in limited spaces, for example the cargo hold of a transport plane.
Various solutions have already been devised to reduce the dimensions during transit. The solutions currently known envisage, in particular, a reduction m the length of the crane mobile arm and relative load-bearing column, by folding or telescoping.
As well as being very complex, to avoid excessively limiting the working length of the crane, such known solutions maintain an excessive height above the upper edge of the crane truck.
Disclosure of the Invention
The present invention relates to a crane for mounting on vehicles which has the characteristics described in claim 1. By providing means for connecting the arm to the chassis of the vehicle m such a way that the arm is mobile and means
designed to move the arm m the home condition between the upright position, m which the arm is higher than the vehicle cab, and a folded down position, m which the arm in the home condition is completely below a reference edge, in particular an upper edge, of the venicle cab, it is possible to reduce the dimensions of the vehicle which mounts such a crane, which may be transported in this configuration even n means of transport with very limited cargo space.
The secondary claims refer to further advantageous aspects of the present invention.
The present invention also relates to a vehicle according to claim 12
Furtner technical characteristics and the relative advantages of the present invention are described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate a preferred embodiment, without limiting the scope of its application, and m which.
Figure 1 is a siαe view of a truck mounting the crane according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, in the upright position m which it is not tilted;
Figure 2 is a side view of the truc in Figure 1, with the crane according to the preferred emDodiment of the present invention tilted to the folded down position;
Figure 3 is a side view of the zone of the truck m which the crane is positioned, illustrating details of the crane;
Figure 4 is a top view of the support base of the crane and the fixed- frame only
The present preferred embodiment of the crane may be mounted on a special vehicle A, for example, as is clearly illustrated m Figures 1 and 2, a truck with a cab C and a support chassis which defines a bed P extending behind the cab C and obtained from at least a plurality of longitudinal members (only one of which is illustrated, labelled 1 and corresponding cross-members (not illustrated) . itn reference also to Figures 2 to 4, the position of the crane on the bed P, behind the cab C, can be seen. The crane comprises an arm for lifting loads (labelled B as a whole in the
figures), which has an extension 5 for lifting the load, it being possible to extend and retract the extension, and a part which supports the lifting part 5, consisting of a load-bearing column 4 extending at least partly substantially vertically and parallel with tne lifting part 5 of the arm, which it supports directly, and a lower base 3 for fixing the crane to the chassis 1 of the truck to which the load-bearing column 4 is connected by a rack R, illustrated in Figure .
In Figures 1 to 4 the numeral 2 indicates a fixed-frame of tne crane which is stably fixed to the truck chassis 1 and which defines the means for making the crane integral with the chassis 1 or the vehicle
As illustrated m Figure 4, tne fixed-frame 2 consists of at least a first and a second longitudinal section 2a, 2b, positioned opposite one another, and between which the lower support plate 3 is located, and to which the support plate is suitably connected m a way more clearly described below.
As well as the normal operating condition, m which it extends to lift and move loads, the arm B of the present preferred embodiment also nas a home operating condition (illustrated m Figures 1 and 3) , in whicn at least the lifting part 5 of the arm _s retracted and in which tne upper portion of the lifting part 5 and corresponding support column 4 are upright and higher than the αpper edge H of the can C (illustrated in Figure 1) . The present preferred emDoαiment advantageously envisages connection of the arm B to the vehicle chassis 1 m such a way that tne arm is mobile, using suitable rotary means for connecting the arm B to the fixed- frame 2.
The above-mentioned rotary connecting means consist of a hinge connection obtained by inserting a first and second rotation pin 13 at a respective lateral section 2a, 2b of the fixed-frame 2, Det een corresponding holes m the support base 3 and fixed- frame 2 fixed to the vehicle chassis 1.
Sucn a configuration of the connecting means between the arm and the fixed-frame 2 allows the complete tilting, with a rotation substantially equalling 90s m a perpendicular longitudinal plane, of the arm B which, with its support column 4, as illustrated in
Figure 2, comes to rest on a front portion of the fixed-frame 2c (illustrated in Figure 4), so that it is parallel with the bed P of the truck.
In particular, as illustrated m Figures 1 and 2, m the home condition, the top of the support column 4 has a plate 15, or other contact means designed to rest (as illustrated m Figure 2) on a plate 16, or similar means, located on the part 2c of the fixed- frame. A locking bolt, illustrated with a dashed line and labelled 17 in Figure 2 , is inserted in corresponding holes made m the acove-mentioned plates 15 and 16 to secure the arm B to the vehicle chassis during transportation
A .inear actuator, in the form of a hydraulic cylinder 6 with a mobue rod 7 is used to move the arm B in the home condition Between the upright position, in which the arm B is higher than the upper edge H of the vemcle cab C, and the folded down position, n wnich the arm B m the home condition s completely below tne upper edge H of the cab C.
The nydraulic cylinder extends on a longitudinal side of the lifting arm B and is connected at one end to the fixed-frame by an eyelet portion 6a which may be positioned, with the possibility of sliding in rotation, on a cylindrical projection 8 extending from a lug 9 which projects upwards from the section 2a of the fixed- frame Moreover, the front end of the rod 7 of the hydraulic cylinder is, in turn, connected to the support plate 3, by a respective eyelet portion 7a which is positioned, with the possibility of sliding in rotation, on a corresponding cylindrical projection 10 extending from a lug 11 on the plate 3, which, when the arm is in the normal home condition, extends upwards from the support base 3 and is distanced, m the rear longitudinal direction, from the lug 9 for fixing the other end of the cylinder 6 to tne fixed-frame 1.
For the extending and retractable linear actuator, the projection 10 represents a point for connection to the base 3 which is at a distance from the point 13 at which the support base 3 is pivoted to the fixed-frame 2 such that, when the rod 7 is extended outside the cylinder, the arm B can be tilted from the upright home position to the folded down transportation position
and, vice versa, py shortening the rod, that is to say, causing tne rod 7 to return into the cylinder, the arm B is repositioned in the upright home position.
The present preferred embodiment envisages a first and a second pm 12, which may be inserted between corresponding holes 12p and, respectively, 12c, on tne support base 3 and fixed-frame 2, to prevent rotation of the support base 3 relative to the fixed-frame 2. With the pins inserted, the arm B can operate normally without any risk of tilting. If the pins 12 are removed from the holes, the arm B is free to tilt, rotating through an angular trajectory illustrated, by way of example, with a dashed line labelled 14 m Figure 3, and, by simply extending the nydraulic cylinder, can oe folded down so that it is lower than the top of the cab As illustrated in Figure 4, the pins 12, in particular, have tne shape of a cylindrical stem 12' with an enlarged cylindrical head 12'' inserted m the holes 12p and 12c to block rotation. The pins are housed m cylindrical bushings 12b m the fixed- frame.
The present crane may be mounted on any type of vehicle, even other than the truck illustrated, such as trolleys, crane trucks and others.
