Abstract

The invention relates to an automobile steering assembly (1) comprising a steering wheel (4) joined to a steering column (2). The steering wheel consists of at least one steering wheel rim (9) and at least two steering wheel spokes (6) which are attached to the steering wheel. The steering column (2) is configured in one or multiple parts. In addition, the steering assembly comprises a first connecting element (3) arranged on the steering wheel (4), a second connecting element (21) arranged indirectly on the steering gear, a steering column intermediate section (10) extending between the first connecting element (3) and the second connecting element (21), and a compression device with which the distance between the steering wheel (4) and the second connecting element (21) can be decreased in an axial direction when a predetermined accident load of the steering column (2) is exceeded. Die im Vorderwagen auftretenden Deformationen sorgen somit zwangsläufig dafür, daß der Abstand zwischen einem ersten Anschlußprofil der Lenksäule für das Lenkrad und einem zweiten Anschlußprofil, das dem Lenkgetriebe zugewandt ist verkürzt wird. Beispielhaft wird hierzu auf die DE 41 18 227 A1 hingewiesen. Es ist weiterhin für den Insassenschutz von Fahrzeugen auch bekannt, Lenksäulen an Lenkungsaufnahmen über Deformationsglieder abzustützen, damit bei einer von einem Insassen auf die Lenkungsanordnung ausgeübte Beaufschlagung während eines Unfalls das Verletzungsrisiko weitgehend herabgesetzt wird. Eine solche Anordnung ist einerseits kostengünstig herstellbar und führt andererseits zu einem effektiven Insassenschutz bei einem Aufprall. In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausgestaltung ist der Aufnahmetopf nicht nur integraler Träger der Lenkradspeichen sondern selbst materiaieinheitlich und einstückig Teil der Lenksäule, wobei vorzugsweise auch das zweite, dem Lenkgetriebe zugeordnete Anschlußprofil ebenfalls als Deformationsglied ausgebildet ist. Bei einer solchen Ausführungsform kann vorteilhaft die gesamte Lenksäule einschließlich der Lenkradspeichen einstückig hergestellt werden. Als Herstellungsverfahren eignen sich dazu insbesondere eine Rollumformung aus stangenrohrförmigem Halbzeug.
