Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for releasably clamping an implantable rod according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- Some devices for connecting longitudinal members in spinal implants are already known from the prior art. These have the advantage that the implanted longitudinal members are considerably stiffened by the cross connection by means of these devices. Thanks to the already known devices, it is also possible to implant the cross-connections at angles that deviate from the right angle to a certain extent.
- Such a connecting device for side members is known, for example, from US Pat. No. 5,312,405 KOROTKO.
- the device disclosed there for connecting longitudinal members in spinal implants is such that yokes are attached to the ends of the cross-connecting rod, which yokes can be snapped in via the longitudinal members.
- the angle between the connecting device lying transversely to the side member and the side members can deviate from the right angle by plus or minus 15 °. This is especially an advantage if the side members could not be implanted in parallel.
- the connecting device is also telescopic and therefore does not have to be mounted on the longitudinal beams at a predetermined location, but can be adjusted in length during def implantation and thus also displaced along the longitudinal beams.
- the disadvantage of this known connecting device is that the ends of the cross-connecting rod with the yokes are connected to the longitudinal beams only by the clamping action of the yokes.
- the invention seeks to remedy this.
- the invention has for its object to provide a device for connecting rods and especially longitudinal members of spinal implants or for connecting a rod with another implant, especially with a bone anchoring element or a pedicle screw with the following properties:
- the invention achieves the stated object with a device which has the features of claim 1.
- the device according to the invention consists of a telescopic crossbar, which can be fixed in a certain length, at the outer ends of which receiving parts are attached, which are provided at their ends directed towards the longitudinal beams with resilient tongues partially enclosing the longitudinal beams and thus permit snap-in mounting of the longitudinal beams.
- the receiving parts are provided with a cone on the outside and slidably mounted in sleeves, so that when a clamping screw is tightened, the receiving parts are moved against the sleeves in such a way that the tongues are pressed together and the longitudinal member is fixed in this way.
- the sleeves are designed so that the side members can deviate from their parallelism by an angle of plus or minus 15 °.
- the device according to the invention thus offers the advantage over known devices that the rod connector is fixed to the longitudinal beams by means of tensioning screws and thus the components of the entire implanted device are firmly connected to one another.
- a preferred development of the device according to the invention consists in that the sleeves consist of two mutually rotatable sleeves and the receiving parts are mounted in the sleeves surrounding them in such a way that the through openings receiving the longitudinal members can be rotated through 360 ° and thus any position of the to be connected Side member is possible.
- a further preferred development of the device according to the invention consists in that a connecting part is attached to the crossbar at only one end. This connecting part contains a receiving part, which is provided at its end directed against the side member with resilient tongues partially enclosing the side member and thus allows a snap-in mounting of the side member.
- the receiving part is provided on the outside with a cone and slidably mounted in the sleeve, so that when a clamping screw is tightened, the receiving part is displaced against the sleeve in such a way that the tongues are pressed together and the longitudinal member is fixed in this way.
- the sleeve is designed in such a way that the side member can deviate from the perpendicularity to the crossbar by an angle of plus or minus 15 °.
- the implant to be connected to the rod can be a pedicle screw that is to be attached to the cross rod. Instead of the pedicle screw, another bone anchoring element can also be used.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view with a longitudinal section through the connecting parts between the cross bar and the bars of a variant of the inventive device.
- FIG. 3 shows a perspective illustration of the connecting parts between the cross bar and the bars of a variant of the device according to the invention
- FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of the connecting parts between the crossbar and the bars of a further variant of the device according to the invention.
- FIG. 5 shows a perspective view of the connecting parts between the crossbar and the bars of a further variant of the device according to the invention.
- FIG. 6 shows an elevation of a further variant of the device according to the invention.
- a connecting part 23 is shown for receiving a rod 8 with the transverse rod 1 lying between several such connecting parts 23.
- the connecting part 23 of the embodiment of the device according to the invention shown here is attached at right angles to the crossbar 1 and consists of a receiving part 2, which is provided at its lower, the rod 8 receiving end 11 with resilient, partially enclosing the rod 8 tongues 7 for snap-in mounting of the rod 8 and on its outer circumference 5 with a towards the lower end 11 further becoming cone 4 is equipped, a sleeve 6, which has a concentric to its central axis 15 bore 13, which is formed at the lower end of the sleeve 6 complementary conical to the receiving part 2, for receiving the receiving part 2 and a clamping screw 14, by means of which Receiving part 2 can be moved in the sleeve 6.
- the resilient tongues 7 on the receiving part 2 are pressed together by the cone 4 when the clamping screw 14 is tightened and the resultant displacement of the receiving part against the sleeve, enclose a rod 8 mounted between the tongues 7 and fix it when the clamping screw 14 is sufficiently tightened
- clamping screw 14 is screwed into an internal thread 19 on the receiving part 2 and the screw head 24 rests on the upper end 10 of the sleeve 6.
- FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of the device according to the invention with two connecting parts 23, each of which can receive a rod 8 and are connected to one another by a telescopic cross rod 1.
- the length of the telescopic crossbar 1 can be fixed by means of a screw 25.
- 3 again shows a connecting part 23 of a further embodiment of the device according to the invention.
- the sleeve 6 of the connecting part 23 is fixedly connected to the crossbar 1 and contains at its lower end 9 a through opening 3 which extends at right angles to the central axis 15 and is open towards the lower end 9 and which is designed such that the bars 8 are not only as shown in FIG 2 shown can be included at right angles but a certain deviation from perpendicularity is also permissible. This possibility is also given by the rotatability of the receiving part 2 in the sleeve 6.
- FIG. 4 Another embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown in FIG. 4.
- This variant of the device according to the invention differs from the variant shown in FIG. 1 only in that the sleeve 6 consists of two bushes 16 and 17 separated perpendicular to the central axis.
- the upper sleeve 16 is firmly connected to the crossbar 1 while the lower sleeve 17 is rotatable through 360 ° by means of the cone 4 shown in FIG. 1 on the receiving part 2. If the clamping screw 14 is tightened, the two bushes 16 and 17 are also pressed against one another by the clamping screw 14 and the receiving part 2.
- FIG. 5 shows a further embodiment of the device according to the invention.
- This variant of the inventive device only in that the receiving part of an inner thread 16 is provided at its upper end 12 with an external thread 19 2 in place ", and a clamping nut 20 serves as a tensioning means 22 different from the l shown in Fig. Variant.
- a slot 21 is attached.
- the connecting device is only on one
- Embodiments of the connecting part 23 and also serve here for fixing between the rod 8 and the transverse rod l.
- the implant to be connected to the rod 8 is a pedicle screw 30 in the embodiment shown here
- Cross bar 1 can be attached. Instead of the pedicle screw
- Connecting part 23 contains at its lower end 9 the sleeve 6 has a through opening 3 which is open towards the lower end 9 and extends at right angles to the central axis 15 and is designed such that the rod 8 is not only received at right angles to the transverse rod 1 as shown in FIG. 2 must become.
