Abstract

La présente invention traite d'un procédé permettant de produire la résistance au stress chez une variété de plantes, grâce à l'expression d'un peroxyde d'hydrogène ou d'une espèce d'oxygène réactive produisant une enzyme telle que l'oxalate oxydase, mais pas uniquement. En outre, la présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un tournesol résistant au stress grâce à la transformation d'un tournesol au moyen d'un gène d'oxalate oxydase ou d'autres gènes produisant du peroxyde d'hydrogène/une espèce d'oxygène réactive qui, après expression, produisent une enzyme susceptible de générer du peroxyde d'hydrogène ou une espèce d'oxygène réactive à partir d'un substrat endogène disponible. Selon un autre mode de réalisation, la plante pourrait être transformée par un gène produisant du peroxyde d'hydrogène ou une espèce d'oxygène réactive et par un gène agissant sur le substrat nécessaire, ou bien par un gène qui modifierait un processus de la plante, entraînant ainsi la formation ou l'agrandissement dudit substrat. La production de peroxyde d'hydrogène ou d'une espèce d'oxygène réactive déclenche l'expression des gènes sensibles à l'expression de ces substances, ce qui entraîne une accumulation de pré-attaque de la pathogenèse ou de facteurs liés au stress tels que l'acide salicylique et la protéine PR (liée à la pathogenèse). Ainsi, la plante est rendue résistante à une pluralité de stress grâce, par exemple, à l'inhibition de l'établissement d'un agent pathogène produisant un phénotype de résistance à la maladie.
