Description

POCKET FOR CIGARETTE LIGHTER
The invention concerns a pocket for cigarette lighters with is attached to the side of a cigarette box.
Cigarettes and cigars are sold in cigarette and cigar boxes . In order to ignite cigarettes and cigars, a lighter or matches are required. It is frequently the case that a lighter or some other means of ignition is not in the same place as the cigarette or cigar box, so that an instrument for ignition must be sought after. The smoker has a lighter in his/her other pair of pants, in his/her back pocket, at home or in some other place .
The problem is solved by attaching a separate lighter pocket to the side of the cigarette box, or similar box. In DE petition publications 2301984 and 3530808, a lighter pocket is presented, into wich the lighter or matchbox can be placed by pushing them into the lighter pocket. Such lighter pockets are made of the same material as the cigarette box and the lighter pocket is an extension adjoined to one outer side of the cigarette cigar box. The extension presents a problem in cigarette and cigar box packaging, storing and selling, in that said extension boxes require a significant amount of additional lateral storage space than non-extension boxes, which means that they fall short of previous standads . Additionally, said extension boxes require significantly more material in production.
The object of the invention is to provide a lighter pocket in which the known defects associated with the product have been corrected. In particular, the object of the invention is to provide a box with a lighter pocket which does not take up significantly more space or material than usual boxes which do not have lighter pockets. Additionally, the object of the invention to provide a lighter pocket which is easy to use. The goal of the invention is attained by a lighter pocket characterised by what is stated in the annexed claims .
In accordance with the invention, the sides of the lighter pocket, attached to the narrow side of a cigarette box, is made with one or more folds, making the lighter pocket collapsible to enable the box to be compressed during packaging and to be easily opened upon use. When a cigarette box, or similar box, is made with such a folding lighter pocket attached to its side, the width of the cigarette box is slightly increased, but not significantly. The increase in width is so minuscule that the measurements of said cigarette box do not exeed the standars . When the smoker opens the box, he/she may also open the lighter pocket if desired. Otherwise, the lighter pocket may remain un-opened on the side. It does not interfere with the use of the box.
A lighter pocket formed in accordance with the invention is advantageous in that its height is approximately half of the height of the cigarette box to which it is attached. Such a lighter pocket can securely hold both lighters and matchboxes, while at the same time, it still conserves production material. In addition to this advantage, said lighter pocket is advantageous in that it is easy to remove the lighter from said lighter pocket because the lighter does not fall all the way down to the bottam of the pocket .
The invention will now be described more precisely with reference to the accompanying drawing, which, in accordance with the invention, depicts one way of attaching the lighter pocket to the cigarette box.
Accoding to the picture, a lighter pocket 2 is attached to the narrow side of a cigarette box 1. In the side 3 of lighter pocket 2, is a perpendicular fold inwards 4. The lighter pocket 2 is approximately half of the height of the cigarette box 1. When a cigarette box 1 is manufactured, a lighter pocket 2 is attached to the side of said cigarette box in the form of a flat strip which has been folded with a legthwise crease on each side to lie flat against the side of said cigarette box, which is wrapped in plastic, or similar wrapping. When said cigarette box is opened and said plastic, or similar wrapping, is removed, said lighter pocket may be opened for use. In this case, a pocket is formed on the side of said cigarette box, in which a lighter or matches can be kept and from which a lighter or matches can easily be removed for use. Said lighter pocket is simple to fasten to the narrow side of a cigarette box and is assembled such that a lighter fits into it precisely.
The invention is not limited only to these advantages set forth in this application. The invention is versatile and its form can vary within the frame of the idea of the invention put forth in this claim.
