Definitions
- Cordless telephone systems consisting of a base station and one or more handsets for voice communication are widespread due to the increased user comfort, since the handsets can be taken anywhere in the home and the surrounding area without the "annoying" cable. Furthermore, facsimile machines (fax machines) are increasingly being used in private households nowadays. It is most cost-effective for the user if both the cordless telephone system and the fax machine can be operated under the same telephone connection with the same telephone number.
- a fax switch is first connected to the telephone connection TAE, which detects when a call comes in, whether it is a voice call or a non-voice call, i.e. is a fax message.
- the fax switch recognizes a CNG identification signal of 1100 Hertz, which identifies a fax message. If the identification signal is detected when there is an incoming call, the fax switch establishes a connection between the telephone line and the fax machine. If the CNG identifier is not recognized, then a voice signal is present and the fax switch switches to the base station of the cordless telephone system, which in turn causes one or more of the handsets to send an acoustic bell signal. When the handset is "picked up" by the user, the usual speech connection is established.
- cordless end points can be used.
- fax machines and modems are referred to as fax machines. These correspond to a handset of a cordless telephone system, but are not portable, but can be installed by the user at any desired location in his home. Like the handsets, the cordless end points can be reached by radio from the base station.
- fax machines, modems or the like can also be connected to the cordless TAE. This allows the user to set up a fax machine or modem anywhere in their home without having to lay a cable connection to the base station.
- Fax call b) "Voice" call - recognizes fax tone - does not recognize fax tone - turns on fax - no switching to / or call to handset possible
- the object of the invention is therefore to improve the operability of cordless telephone systems which are equipped with a cordless end point for connecting a facsimile machine or the like and are connected to an analog connection [e.g. TAE connection, ISDN connection with D / A converter (Terminal Adapter)] can be operated, simplified and improved.
- an analog connection e.g. TAE connection, ISDN connection with D / A converter (Terminal Adapter)
- the base station has a device for detecting the identification of voice and non-voice signals and forwards non-voice signals to the cordless terminal and voice signals to one or more of the handsets.
- the device for detecting the identification of incoming signals is accommodated in the cordless terminal, which maintains the connection to the cordless terminal when a non-voice signal is detected and transmits a signal to the base station when a voice signal is detected, whereupon this establishes a connection from the telephone line to one or more of the handsets.
- An advantage of the invention is that the operability of a cordless telephone system, in which a fax machine or Modem or the like is connected to a cordless terminal, is much easier. In particular, it is possible to operate several handsets for voice communication and a terminal for non-voice communication with a base station under one call number without restrictions on accessibility. In the cordless telephone system according to claim 1, even a plurality of cordless terminals, each of which is connected to a non-voice terminal, can be operated.
- the cordless telephone system can be designed according to the DECT standard. It is also possible, for example, to additionally connect an answering machine to a / b connections on the base station without this coming into conflict with the fax machine.
- the cordless telephone system according to the invention can also have several base stations and can be used as part of an ISDN telephone system.
- Figure 1 shows schematically a known cordless telephone system with upstream fax switch
- Figures 2 and 3 each schematically show a cordless telephone system according to the invention.
- cordless telephone ⁇ system includes a base station 1 which is connected, for example via a primary telephone socket with a telephone line.
- the base station can also be connected to a telephone line operated by ISDN via an upstream digital-to-analog converter.
- the string- los telephone system also has one or more handsets 2 that communicate with the base station via radio signals.
- the cordless telephone system has a cordless terminal (cordless telecommunication connection unit SL-TAE) 3, which likewise communicate with the base station via radio signals.
- a non-voice terminal 4 for example a fax machine or a modem, can be connected to the cordless terminal.
- the base station 1 is preferably configured such that the handsets are defined as voice terminals and the cordless TAE is defined as a non-voice terminal if a fax machine or the like is connected.
- the base station 1 has a first device for detecting the identifier of incoming voice and non-speech signals 10, for example the CNG identifier of fax messages. If the device 10 detects a fax message in the base station 1, the base station 1 switches the call to the cordless TAE 3 and thus to the fax device 4, so that the fax message can be received. However, if the base station 1 recognizes a voice call, the call signal is activated on one or more handsets 2 on which the user can accept the call. In addition, an answering machine can be connected to the base station 1, which connects after a certain number of calls. The mode of operation of this first exemplary embodiment is additionally explained in Table 2.
- cordless - TAE - switches call to cordless - TAE - switches call to handsets with fax no call to handsets or no call to SL-TAE with fax or SL-TAE with telephone modem
- the cordless terminal 4 has a second device for recognizing the incoming voice and non-voice signals 30, for example the CNG identifier of fax messages.
- the device 30 recognizes the identifier in the cordless TAE 3 and the cordless TAE 3 maintains the connection from the telephone line via the base station and the cordless TAE to the fax machine (or modem) .
- the cordless TAE transmits a signal to the base station 1, so that the base station 1 transmits a call signal to the handsets 2, at which the user can then accept the call.
- an answering machine can be connected to the base station.
- the second exemplary embodiment according to the invention is therefore an “intelligent” cordless terminal which automatically recognizes a voice or a non-voice call. takes and only "returns" the call to the base station in the case of a voice call.
