Abstract

The invention concerns a method of continuously sealing the longitudinal seams in foil strips by heating and compressing overlapping foil strip regions. According to the invention, during the sealing phase, the foil strip regions to be sealed are heated a plurality of times (3, 5, 7, 9, 11), preferably in steps, and are guided at least once (4, 6, 8, 10) therebetween. The invention also concerns a corresponding sealing device.

Description

The present invention relates to a method and the corresponding device for sealing film webs, in particular for producing film / tubular bag packaging, in which the film webs are guided at least once during the sealing process. This sealing process has the advantage that the sealing seams that are formed during the sealing process are smoother and therefore on the one hand more attractive and on the other hand have no leaks. Furthermore, this type of sealing can also achieve significantly higher processing speeds when sealing.
The preservation of food is becoming increasingly important these days. In addition to preservation through deep-freezing, food is increasingly being packed in gas-tight films. When packaging the food in such foils, the packaging machines are subject to increasingly higher demands in terms of the quality of the packaging and the packaging speed.
Siegelgeschwindigkeit. As a rule, the food, such as bread or sausages, is wrapped in the film and the film is then sealed in one or more places; ie the parts of the film web to be connected are heated and pressed together so that gastight sealing seams are obtained. While the so-called transverse sealing seams, which are perpendicular to the running direction of the product to be packaged, are applied discontinuously, the so-called longitudinal sealing seams, which are arranged in the running direction of the film web of the product to be packaged, are sealed continuously. Especially in the continuous heating of a film web for producing a longitudinal sealing seam on devices and according to methods according to the prior art, there have always been problems in the past, because the film webs warp during heating. As a result of these faults, the areas of the film web to be connected no longer lie exactly on top of one another during the subsequent pressing, so that the resulting longitudinal sealing seam is wrinkled, has an uneven width and, under certain circumstances, has air pockets. In extreme cases, the sealing seam is so thin that the packaging leaks or becomes leaky. The warps increase with increasing packaging, ie sealing speed.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of providing a sealing method and a device, by means of which the sealing of longitudinal seams and the devices required for this purpose are changed so that the longitudinal sealing seams without warping and defects at the high sealing speeds which are common for modern packaging machines are can be produced.
The object is achieved in that the process for continuously sealing film webs by heating and compressing the film webs is designed such that the overlapping areas of the film webs to be sealed are heated, preferably stepwise, several times during the sealing phase and are guided at least once in between .
In this context, heating step by step means that the temperature is increased step-by-step depending on the film or packaging speed up to the final sealing temperature.
In the method according to the invention, the heating and guiding of the sealing seam area of the film web take place sequentially, the sealing seam area of the film first being heated. Are preferred in the The inventive method performed the areas of the films to be sealed 1-6 times, particularly preferably 2-4 times during the sealing phase.
The sealing seam area of the film web can be heated with any type of heat supply by the method according to the invention, but heating with hot air is preferred. The heating should be carried out in such a way that it is relatively low at the beginning of the sealing phase and then increases with increasing running length of the sealing area of the film, preferably depending on the film running or packaging speed, until the desired sealing temperature is reached.
The method according to the invention is preferably used for the production of longitudinal seal seams of packaging. Preferably, the method for producing longitudinal sealing seams of tubular film packaging, as is often the case for packaging food, such as Bread, sausages, cakes, sandwiches, or other items needed to be used.
The method according to the invention can be carried out particularly well by means of a sealing device according to the invention, which has heating elements for heating and in between at least one guide element for guiding the overlapping areas of the film web to be sealed.
The heating and guide elements are attached sequentially in the device according to the invention, the device according to the invention preferably having 1-6, particularly preferably 2-4 guide elements. When viewed in the direction of travel of the film web, a heating element is always installed first.
The distance between two guide elements in the device according to the invention in the machine running direction should preferably be between 20 and 70 mm, a distance between 30 and 50 mm being particularly preferred. In the device according to the invention, non-heated roller pairs are used as preferred guide elements, one roller being attached to each side of the sealing area. The contact pressure of the rolls, the distance between the rolls and their inclination to the film running direction can be set. The rollers are either made of heat-resistant plastic, such as Teflon, or of metal with a sliding coating. The diameter of the rollers should be 10-50 mm, preferably from 15 to 25 mm.
Die Düsen sind vorzugsweise kreisförmig und haben vorzugsweise einen Durchmesser von 1 bis 2 mm.Preferred heating elements of the device according to the invention have hot air nozzles, it being possible for a heating element to be equipped with one or more such hot air nozzles which are arranged next to and / or below one another. The nozzles are preferably circular and preferably have a diameter of 1 to 2 mm.
The nozzle bores are preferably made perpendicular to the running direction of the film. The air outlet bores can also be made at an angle, at an acute angle to the running direction of the film. In a device according to the invention with hot air nozzles, it is particularly important that the air is heated by a heating device with a low thermodynamic inertia. A heating coil is preferably used as the heating device.
The sealing device according to the invention is preferably part of an automatic packaging machine. Such an automatic packaging machine packs the goods with a thin film of synthetic polymers, preferably gas-tight if necessary. Typically, this packaging machine is of the horizontal type and capable of performing a series of packaging steps fully automatically. Among other things, the film is continuously advanced by a length of the package shape, a bag or tube is formed from this part of the film, the packaging material is filled into the bag or tube and the bag or tube is sealed lengthways and crosswise to produce a preferably gas-tight package . The invention The device is used for the continuous sealing of the longitudinal seam of the bag or tube.
The sealing device according to the invention can therefore be used particularly advantageously on horizontally operating automatic tubular bag machines for packaging foods, especially perishable foods such as fresh meat, ham, sausages, bread or cakes.
For this purpose, the film web is unwound from the film roll via deflection rolls during the packaging process and formed into a tube with the aid of a folding box. The goods to be packaged are continuously pushed into this prefabricated tube using a horizontally running conveyor belt. At the same time, the longitudinal seam of the hose is sealed and then the transverse seams are attached by cross sealing. The sealing device according to the invention is used to produce the longitudinal seam.
The sealing according to the invention has the advantage that the sealing seams that arise during the sealing are smoother and absolutely tight and have a more uniform width. On the one hand, they are more attractive and, on the other hand, they have no leaks. Furthermore, higher packaging speeds can also be achieved with this type of sealing. In addition, faster adaptation to different packaging speeds is possible.
