Abstract

The invention refers to a device for shopping management and to support paper advertising messages; the advertising messages may also be conveyed by means of video-audio transmitting apparatuses or audio-recorders. The device is to be applied to the handle of shopping carts or carts for carrying luggage in airports, trains stations, and so on: in the latter case the device is also provided with a time/date display or a display for transmitting arrivals and departures time-tables. In a particular execution the device allows the reciprocal blocking among carts when they are in the parking area. One important feature of the device lies in the fact that the electronic apparatuses for supplying shopping management services and advertising messages are extractable.

Description

SHOPPING AIDS AND ADVERTISING MEANS ATTACHABLE TO CART HANDLES
The invention refers to a shopping management device to be applied on carts which are used in supermarkets, big
5. distribution halls, airports, train stations, and so on, and, at the same time, to means for advertising. The state of the art includes devices which may be applied in several ways to shopping carts and used in supermarkets to carry goods and to convey advertising
10. messages.
Some of the above mentioned known devices to support advertising messages do have a one-body structure with a calculator which can be used to calculate the amount of the purchased goods.
15. When these devices only supply advertising messages, they do not allow a good observation thereof.
Moreover, they do not include means to plan and to note down what has been purchased. When shopping management devices are included, for
20. example a mini-calculator, it is not possible to separate them from the advertising support.
In order to avoid such inconveniences, the applicant filed the Italian Patent Applications No.BA97A00000l on January 10, 1997 and No.BA97A000006 on February 4, 1997,
25. which refer to devices which have several functions and which can supply, besides advertisement^ the above mentioned shopping management services, so that when they are not simultaneously used with advertisement, they can be extracted, i.e. not used. 5. The first Patent Application describes a device which can be properly applied on, or included in, shopping cart handles, having the aim to support advertising papers, a portable removable calculator and a paper clip for the shopping list.
10. The above mentioned Patent Application claims several executions of the above mentioned invention among which the advertising message is applied to an end of an orientable rod joined to the other end of the cart handle, having the aim of putting it in evidence, in
15. this application it is also described that the paper clip device for the shopping list is joined to a removable calculator which is inserted in the advertising message support. In the Patent Application No.BA97A000006 improvements
20. referring to the first device are described which facilitate the application of said device to the cart and, at the same time, its performances.
The object of this invention is to supply a structure to support advertising means which can offer
25. advertisement and removable services for shopping and transmitting video-audio instructions to facilitate the search of goods and so on.
Another important aim is to supply an advertisement support which also has a paper clip device to note down 5. the purchasing that has been done or that has to be done. Another main aim is to supply an advertising support which allows the application, by means of removable devices, of control and shopping management devices, for example mini.calculators, bar-code scanners and so on.
10. Another important aim for big shopping centers which have shopping carts is to put in evidence, by means of posters, brochures and other advertising material which are blocked by a paper clip, commercial promotions which are going on in the area.
15. Another important aim is to allow, by means of extractable devices, the application of audio devices, TV receivers, tape recorders etc., in order to give information or advice for purchases in that area, at last, there is another important aim which is to
20. extract the device from the shopping management services once the carts have to be parked outside the shopping centre, in order to protect them from burglaries, vandalism and weather conditions. .Another aim is to furnish the device, according to the
25. invention, with a lαckipg device for cart handle in the parking area.
The support which has been improved and is the object of this application is described here below with reference to figures of the three enclosed sheets of drawings which 5. supply respectively: fig. 1, an exploded view of the device; fig. 2, the device completely assembled and the mode of mounting the apparatuses for shopping carts and carts for luggage;
10. fig. 3, the back surface of the device used for papaer advertisement; fig. 4, the disposable execution of a cardboard advertising device with paper clip; fig. 5, the device which includes a mechanism for
15. reciprocally locking the carts in the parking area.
The device according to the invention consists of a support 1 on which a plate 4 can be applied, by means of pins 4.2, said plate being intended to support paper advertisement.
20. This plate forms, in its lower part, with the surface of support 1 on which it leans, a slot 4.4 having rectangular shape, which it is possible to get to through the opening 4.5 in the back part of the device. In this slot the inserting plate 12 of further supports
25. 13 or 14 may get inserted; in said further supports it is possible to alternatively mount several apparatuses , such as:
- a calculator;
- a time and date display;
5. - a display for transmitting arrivals and departures time-tables;
- a mini-TV;
- a mini-computer;
- a bar-code scanner; 10. - a mini-audio-recorder;
- a sound receiver.
The invention can be applied on the handle of all types of shopping carts and carts for carrying luggage.
The pins 4.2 of the plate 4 are inserted, through slots 15. 1.2, in tubular seats 5.2 having a bigger diameter, of plate 5 which is used to fix the locking of support 1 to the cart handle of the shopping cart by means of screws
11.
At this aim, the plate 5 is provided with a semi-circular 20. crdale 5.1 which locks the base 1 of the device to the cart handle with the help of semi-circular opeminings 1.1 on both sides of the support 1.
A transparent cover 7 is applied to the plate which protects the paper advertisement 6. 25. The cover is blocked by elastic plates 7.1 which are inserted in vertical groovings 4.1 of the plate 4 till they are locked by detents 4.3; the support 1 is provided by small groovings 10 to facilitate the seating of the ends of the pins 7.1. 5. An important feature of support 1 is a plate 1.3 on which a paper clip 2 and a penholder are applied. The paper clip is reactioned by a spring.
The vertical back part 14 of the support 1 may also be used to support paper advertisement 15.
10. Figure 4 shows a different execution 16, being of cardboard or other proper material, of a disposable device formed by a plain 16.1 for the applictaion of advertisement and by a support 17 provided with two small collars 17.2 for the application on a cart handle, the
15. support 17 is, at this aim, covered by an adhesive 17.3; the application to the surface of the plain 16.1 is obtained by adhesive 17.1.
The different execution is also provided with a paper clip device 2.1.
20. In fig. 5, the support 9 of the device is integrated with an additional known mechanism which reciprocally locks or unlocks the carts in the parking area, at the end to take a cart only by inserting a coin in the slot 19. The access to the locking device can occur through slot
25. 18 into which a metallic small plate 20 at the end of a chain joined to another cart may get inserted.
In fig. 5 it is also shown the opening which allows enteering into the slot 4.4 of the supporting plate of the shopping management device.
The lower plate 21 for the locking to the cart handle is, in this case, suitable to support possible tamperings.
The back part of the device can be used, also in this case, for advertisement purposes.
