Abstract

The use of the rise and the fall of tidal waters to create perpetual energy, by driving a hydraulic motor or turbine which in turn drives an electric generating unit. A double acting piston and cylinder used to pump ocean water or fluid in a closed circuit, in both directions with the rise and fall of the tide water. The cylinder to be attached to the ocean floor by means of an ocean going drilling rig and steel tubing cemented in place to withstand any amount of pressure in any direction. The piston to be attached with a piston rod to a heavy float with guide lines and pilings to keep it from drifting.

Claims

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A double acting piston pump to pump ocean water or hydraulic fluid, comprising: a cylinder and a piston, made of non-corrosive material to withstand the ocean water; and the cylinder attached to the ocean floor, or if reversed the piston rod attached to the ocean floor, in a vertical position and upper end attached to a float, barge, or ship, the use of tidal waters lo produce electricity, with the up and down motion of the tide, not the flow, many different sizes for residential or commercial use, and to suit different tidal variations.
2. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 1. wherein the cyclindei is sealed with an end plate, which has an inlet one way valve and a smaller outlet one way valve.
3. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 2, wherein the inlet valve hooked to a supply tank by means of hydraulic hoses to supply fluid or if left open to supply ocean water.
L \ double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 2, wherein the outlet one way valve i«; used lo supply fluid, or ocean water to turbine or hydraulic motor to drive a generator or alternator to produce electricity.
5. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 2, wherein the cyclmder has a detachable end plate with both the inlet and outlet one way valves.
6. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 1, further comprising of a piston rod gland in the centre of end plale, with a gland packing to prevent water or fluid irom leaking out. This is also hooked up to supply same as other end.
7. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 1 , to be attached by the cylinder to the ocean floor, or if reversed the piston rod to be attached to the ocean floor.
8. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 7, further comprising of the piston rod to be attached to a float, barge, ship, or cylinder in float and piston rod attached to ocean floor.
9. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 7, further has a piston rod and cylinder length made to suit the depth of water and the rise and fall of the tide water.
10. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 8, wherein the float, barge, or ship is held in place by cables and piling to prevent drifting from the flow of the ocean tide or winds.
11. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 10, wherein a ocean going drilling rig installs heavy steel tubing into the ocean floor, filled with cement, to act as guides, to prevent drifting.
12. A double acting piston pump as claimed in claim 10, further comprises of some flex joints to prevent any side pressures on the piston and cylinder walls.
13. A double acting piston pump, comprising: a cylinder and piston of non-corrosive materials, sealed both ends one end detachable, both ends have larger inlet valves hooked to a supply tank b means of hydraulic hoses or left open and not hooked to supply tank with ocean water, smaller outlet valves hooked by means of hydraulic hoses to drive a generator or alternator by means of hydraulic motor of turbine; and the detachable cylinder end plate also has a piston rod gland, with a gland packing to prevent water or fluid from leaking out, cylinder or piston to be anchored to ocean floor by means of a ocean going drilling rig; further the piston rod length made to suit the depth and the tide fluctuations, float attached to top side of piston rod or cylinder to be held in place by cables or pillions to prevent drifting from wind or tide with some flex joints between ocean floor and float; and the piston pump to be of many different sizes to suit residential or commercial use and to suit the rise and fall of the tide; this use of energy created by the rise and the fall oi the tide is entirely ecologically and environmentally friendly, and also an untapped energy source.
