Wie Fig. 2 entnommen werden kann, trifft das Kühlmittel dabei in etwa im Bereich einer (nicht dargestellten) Schnittgeraden auf die Schleifscheibe auf, die durch die Mantelfläche der Schleifscheibe 11 und einer vertikal ausgerichteten und die Schleifscheibe 13 tangential berührenden (imaginären) Ebene gebildet wird. Damit bleibt aber auch die sich durch diesen Abstand ergebende Austrittsöffnung für lose Schleifscheibenstücke und/oder von der Scheibe 13 mitgenommenem Kühlmittel unverändert klein. Zur Verringerung der Verschmutzung trägt ausserdem bei, dass, wie bereits erläutert wurde, die Kühlmitteldüse 25 stets auf den Bereich gerichtet ist, in dem die Schleifscheibe mit dem Werkstück in Eingriff steht.
