Abstract

The different types of guitars in circulation now have a substantial common setback. When playing, the guitarist lacks the possibility to observe easily the front side of the fingerboard of the musical instrument. This setback is eliminated by means of a device for observing a guitar fingerboard. It features two mirrors (1 and 2) for obtaining a twofold-reflected image, attached into a frame (3) and fixed firmly onto the guitar (the fingerboard).

Description

A Device for Observing a Guitar Fingerboard
The device relates to the manufacture of the musical instrument guitar as a supplementary element to its construction •
A thorough reference made it clear that a device of the kind has never been designed or manufactured.
A setback of the guitars in circulation so far is the lack of possibility on the part of the guitarist to observe easily the front side of the fingerboard of the musical instrument.
The purpose of this useful design is the availability of a device for observing a guitar fingerboard thereby eliminating the above-stated setback.
The problem is solved by means of a device for observing a guitar fingerboard, consisting of two mirrors (to obtain a twofold-reflected image), a frame, an arm (arms) and a lighting system.
According to the useful design, the mirrors are attached into a frame and are fixed firmly onto the guitar by means of an arm ( arms ) .
In case of insufficient light the front side of the fingerboard receives the necessary quantity through a lighting system.
An example construction of the device is shown in the figures enclosed hereuith.
Figure 1 shoωs a general view of the device together with the guitar;
Figure 2 — a section of the device; Figure 3 shows the device together with the lighting system }
Figure 4 — the device constructed with a single joint arm j
Figure 5 is a general view of the device together with "the guitar (constructed with one arm).
The device for observing a guitar fingerbosrd consists of mirrors (1 and 2) attached into a frame (3) and fixed onto the guitar by means of an arm (arms) (4/5) and screws (10).
Onto a frame (3), with the help of an element (6), a lighting unit with a bulb-socket (θ) is mounted. An external source supplies electricity to the lighting unit through an isolated cable (7). The isolated cable is equipped with an arm 5 (4), whereas it is either attached to the arm with clamps (9) (fig. 3), or runs inside the arm a hollow arm).
The frame (3) is attached onto the elements (4, 5 and 6) by means of screw-connections (fig. 2 - First options), or the elements (3, 4, 5 and 6) are integrated into a single unit (fig. 4 and 5 - Second option).
The arm 5 (4) can be attached into the frame (3) on the side of mirror 1 instead of on the side of mirror 2.
The device operates, as follows: the image of the fingerboard is received by mirror 2, which then transmits it onto mirror 1. The resulting image is used by the guitarist to observe the fingerboard. Whenever necessary the finqer- board is lighted with artificial light from the lighting unit (θ).

Claims

Cl ai s
A device for observing a guitar fingerboard, including mirrors (1 and 2), jointed at a definite angle one to the other, a attached into a frame (3) and fixed firmly onto the musical instrument, whereas onto the frame (3) a lighting unit with a bulb-sαcket (8) is mounted, with the purpose of lighting the guitar fingerboard, characterised in that the mirrors (1 and 2) serve to obtain a twofold-reflected image, whereas mirror 1 is additionally used as a protection against blinding the guitarist on the part of the lighting unit (8).
