Abstract

The invention relates to a device for mixing a moist fibrous material with a liquid or gaseous reagent and for heating and conveying the material. It can be used in the paper and pulp industry. The proposed mixer comprises a housing unit with: a receiving hopper; a screw conveyor on whose shaft a disperser is fitted coaxially; means for removing air from the fibrous material in the form of longitudinal through-slits disposed on the surface of the housing unit at the level of the last turn in the screw conveyor and of a width not exceeding the mean fibre length; a mixing chamber that is aligned coaxially with the screw conveyor at some distance from the screw conveyor's last turn so that the disperser is situated inside the mixing chamber at the chamber inlet, and is provided with a nozzle for discharging the fibrous material after processing; and means for introducing the chemical reagent, transport agent and/or superheated steam, in the form of hollow annular chambers with inlet and outlet apertures and disposed around the disperser concentrically in relation to the screw conveyor shaft. By using the proposed mixer, it is possible to achieve effective mixing with the chemical reagent, uniform heating and transport of moist fibrous material of high concentration (16-90 wt %). This reduces the production area required and reduces energy consumption. By effectively removing the air which inhibits the process from the fibrous material, it is possible to achieve qualitatively superior chemical treatment of the fibrous material.
