Abstract
There are known bass reflex boxes which have a bass loudspeaker and a bass reflex opening in an acoustic baffle of a housing with a defined volume. The bass loudspeaker, the bass reflex opening and the volume of the housing are so matched with one another that the impedance curve of the bass reflex box has a maximum at a defined frequency, at which the bass loudspeaker and the air in the bass reflex opening oscillate in phase. To improve the sound radiation, it is proposed to add an open-ended conductor in front of the acoustic baffle that encloses the bass loudspeaker and the reflex opening, and whose length is so determined that the impedance at the defined frequency is reduced.
Description
Baßreflexbox Bass reflex box
Beschreibungdescription
The invention relates to a bass reflex box according to the preamble of claim 1.
A major problem with sound transducers is that they emit sound with a sufficiently high level of efficiency in the low-frequency range. A main reason for this problem lies in the acoustic mismatching of the bass loudspeaker, that is, the actual transducer to the low impedance of the air. From a theoretical point of view, it is possible to optimally adapt a loudspeaker to the air using an exponential horn. In the low frequency range, the dimensions necessary here are However, this is only realistic with the sound of large stages, since, for example, a mouth diameter of 2.10 m and a funnel length of 2.25 m are required for a lower cut-off frequency of 50 Hz and an initial diameter of 25 cm.
Andererseits nimmt derA very powerful bass reproduction can be achieved with a bass reflex box of the type mentioned at the beginning. The loudspeaker impedance in such a box then has two maxima, since the loudspeaker and the housing represent resonators coupled (mutually detuned) to the bass reflex opening. In the area of the impedance maximum at the higher frequency value, the air in the reflex opening and the bass loudspeaker oscillate in phase, so that an increased sound radiation can be expected. On the other hand, the
Loudspeakers only have a lower power due to the increased impedance at this frequency. Overall, even with bass reflex boxes there is still the problem of emitting sound at low frequencies with the highest possible efficiency and yet a low distortion factor.
This object is achieved by the bass reflex box according to claim 1.
Überraschenderweise konnte gezeigt werden, daß eineSurprisingly, it could be shown that a
für ein viertel der Wellenlänge, sondern für alle ungeradzah¬ ligen Vielfachen dieses Maßes."Simple" line open at the end in front of the bass reflex box can be tuned in such a way that the impedance maximum lying at the higher frequency is flattened considerably, the sound pressure in this area and below it increasing by about 6 dB (measured in the central axis). In this case, the depth of the housing behind the baffle preferably flows in as a continuation of the line, in such a way that the total length of the line, ie the length of the line in front of the baffle plus the depth of the housing, adds a quarter of the wavelength of the sound is the frequency at which the upper impedance maximum of the bass reflex box lies. Of course, this calculation rule does not only apply for a quarter of the wavelength, but for all odd multiples of this measure.
In contrast, if one considers known arrangements, for example those according to EP 0 409 575 AI or those according to EP 0 101 031 AI, one recognizes that the idea of "interconnecting" different housing systems is well known per se. However, all the known systems are extremely complex and yet do not have the advantages, in particular the enormous rise in sound pressure and, at the same time, the decrease in impedance at low frequencies, as can be found in the system according to the invention. Amazingly, the depth of the speaker behind the baffle plays a role in the adjustment.
The efficiency is particularly good when the line has essentially parallel walls. In this case, the arrangement becomes particularly simple if the line is designed to continue the housing. A straight, straight line has the best properties and is preferably used if the spatial conditions allow this. However, it is also possible to fold the line in particular if its diameter is relatively small.
The baffle can be set at an angle and / or angled to the longitudinal axis of the line for frequency adjustment, which in turn depends on the shape of the line.
Damping devices are preferably provided for damping any further resonances of the bass reflex box. These can include, for example, slots in the housing, in particular in the rear wall of the housing, and mineral wool absorbers, which are also preferably attached to the rear wall of the housing.
Furthermore, it is possible to take further damping and adaptation measures in a manner known per se, such as for example the installation of additional passive radiators in the baffle in such a way that they also radiate into the line.
Hierbei zeigen:An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of the figures. Here show:

Figuren 5 und 6 die zu den Figuren 3 und 4 gehörigen Ver¬ läufe der Lautsprecherimpedanz.FIGS. 5 and 6 show the curves of the loudspeaker impedance belonging to FIGS. 3 and 4.
The embodiment of the bass reflex box according to the invention shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 comprises a baffle 12, in which a bass loudspeaker 10 and a reflex opening 11 are arranged. The reflex opening 11 has a certain depth 1 Q and a certain cross section A. The depth 1 Q and the cross section A are matched to the volume of the housing interior 13 in a manner known per se. Insulating material 15 is fastened to the rear wall 14.
In front of the baffle 12, the side walls, the top wall and the bottom wall of the actual bass reflex housing, a line 16 is attached in such a way that the reflex opening 11 and the bass speaker 10 radiate into this line 16. The line 16 has an opening 17 at its end over the entire cross-sectional area. In FIG. 1, the depth of the housing interior 13, that is to say the distance between the baffle 12 and the rear wall 14, is denoted by 1 ^, the length of the line 16 is denoted by I2.
The total length 1, that is the sum of the housing depth 1 ^ and the actual line length I2 is dimensioned such that it corresponds to a quarter of the wavelength at the impedance maximum fy of the bass reflex box according to FIG. The impedance curve shown in FIG. 5 applies, however, to the box shown in FIG. 1 without the line 16 arranged in front of it, that is to say to a completely conventional bass reflex box.
Fig. 5) ist frappierend. The change in the impedance curve (Fig. 6) as well as the change in the sound pressure curve (Fig. 4) compared to the conventional bass reflex box (Fig. 3 or Fig. 5) is striking.
While the sound pressure of the conventional bass reflex box in the range of over 150 Hz is still practically the same as the sound pressure of the box according to the invention according to FIG. 4, it drops considerably at lower frequencies. 3, the sound pressure of the conventional bass reflex box according to FIG. 3 is consistently more than 6 dB lower than the sound pressure curve (FIG. 4) of the box according to the invention, which is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. The distortion factors K 3 shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 are comparable.
Die bei höheren Frequenzen liegenden Resonanzfrequenz fjj der konventionellenIf one looks at the impedance profiles without a line (FIG. 5) or with a line according to the invention (FIG. 6), it is evident that the lower resonance frequency fp and the profile from approximately 150 Hz to higher frequencies are essentially identical . However, there are significant differences in the impedance minimum f υ , which is shifted towards low frequencies in the box according to the invention. The resonance frequency f j j of the conventional frequencies at higher frequencies
This impedance curve now means at the same time that the bass reflex box according to the invention can be controlled in the low frequency range (above fo) with a considerably higher electrical power than is the case with the conventional bass reflex box. This not only makes it possible to increase the sound pressure, which can already be seen in FIGS. 3 and 4, but it is also possible to work with considerably higher electrical outputs with a given bass loudspeaker and a real amplifier, and thereby additionally with a considerably higher acoustic Radiate performance.
