Description

PROCEDE ET DISPOSITIF DE BIODEGRADATION DES MATIERES LIPIDESPROCESS AND DEVICE FOR BIODEGRADATION OF LIPID MATERIALS
The present invention relates to a process for the biodegradation of lipid materials, in particular triglycerides, phosphoglycerides and derived compounds, essential components of edible fats and oils.
It also relates to a device for implementing the process of biodegradation of lipid materials, in particular triglycerides, phosphoglycerides and derived compounds, essential components of fats and edible oils.
Wastewater from private kitchens or restaurants as well as from various companies in the agro-food sector processing dairy products, meat products or oilseeds, contains lipid materials from food which are responsible for various nuisances which are difficult to combat. Among these nuisances we can mention the clogging of evacuation pipes and sewers, the emission of unpleasant odors and the development of filamentous bacteria in treatment plants.
Many methods of physico-chemical treatment of lipid materials have been tested, but they prove to be both expensive and ineffective.
Among these known processes, mention may be made of that described in publication DE-C-41 41 832 which proposes a process for treating sludge from treatment plants. The sludge is treated with four groups of enzymes which are amylases, cellulases, lipases and proteases, with a view to the elimination of some organic components from the sludge created in the station and the production of a more mineralized sludge. .
This process is costly in energy and is not particularly suitable for the treatment of fats.
Only certain bacteria are able, thanks to their enzymes, to break down the molecules of lipid matter. These bacteria are practically not present in the biology of the stations and therefore cannot act on lipid materials to fractionate their molecules
The present invention proposes to overcome the above drawbacks and to carry out a process and a device for implementing this process with a view to causing total biodegradation of lipid materials.
For this purpose, the method is characterized in that one proceeds in two successive stages: - a first stage during which one proceeds to a reduction of the molecules of lipid materials into their components, to make them soluble in water , this process being carried out using enzymes emitted by bacteria, - a second step during which a conventional biodegradation of the lipid materials solubilized during the first step is carried out.
According to a preferred embodiment, said enzymes are of the lipase type capable of reducing lipid materials into their constituents, namely a nucleus of glycerol and three fatty acids.
During said first step of the process, a mixture of water and lipid materials is treated in a tank and mixing is carried out to homogenize the mixture and create maximum contact between the particles of lipid materials and the enzymes. This first step is carried out by simple biological hydrolysis.
Said second step is carried out in a treatment plant or the like, by conventional biodegradation. This biodegradation can also occur in an anaerobic digester by assimilation by methanogenic bacteria.
Preferably, the lipid solubilized materials are drawn off at the bottom of a tank in which said first treatment step takes place, and these solubilized lipid materials are poured into an enclosure for the implementation of said second processing step.
For this purpose also, the device for implementing this method is characterized in that it comprises a tank in which a mixture of water and lipid material to be treated is stored, to which bacteria capable of generating lipase enzymes are added which reduce the lipid material to its constituents, namely a nucleus of glycerol and three fatty acids, in order to dissolve them in a first step, and an enclosure containing bacteria capable of digesting lipid materials dissolved in a second step.
In a preferred embodiment of the device, said tank comprises means for mixing the mixture during said first step.
According to the variant embodiments, the enclosure in which said step is carried out may be a basin of a purification station in which the second step is carried out or an anaerobic digester containing methanogenic bacteria.
In the preferred embodiment of the device, it comprises means for removing the lipid materials dissolved at the bottom of said tank and for discharging them into said enclosure.
The present invention will be better understood with reference to the description of a preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention as well as of the implementation device, and to the accompanying drawing, the single figure of which schematically represents this device.
La citerne est équipée de malaxeurs 14, entraînés en rotation par des moteurs électriques 15.Referring to the figure, the device 10 according to the invention essentially consists of a tank 11 in which is stored a mixture of water and lipid materials to be treated introduced by an opening 12 provided with a cover 13. The tank is equipped with mixers 14, driven in rotation by electric motors 15.
A discharge pipe 17 is connected to the bottom, or in the lower zone of the tank 11 to allow the removal of dissolved lipid materials and their discharge into a basin 18 of a purification station.
During the first stage, a mixture of water and water-insoluble lipid materials is stored in tank 11. To this mixture are added specific bacterial strains capable of producing lipase enzymes. The mixture is stirred to remain homogeneous and cause maximum contact between the particles of lipid matter and the enzymes. The action of the bacteria is intense and immediate and consists in reducing the lipid materials into their constituent components, which are glyeerol and three fatty acids, in such a way that these lipid materials are rapidly dissolved. The compounds of the lipid materials degraded by the enzymes remain in solution in water, the lipid materials not degraded float on the surface. The solubilized lipid material is removed by simple pumping from the bottom of the tank after a temporary stopping of the mixing.
These lipid materials are transferred from the tank into the basin 18 of a purification station where they are biodegraded in a completely conventional manner by the bacteria which are there. The final effluent from the treatment plant is not affected in its finality by the supply of solubilized lipid materials.
A variant of the second conventional digestion step with bacteria from the treatment plant can consist of an assimilation of lipid materials solubilized by methanogenic bacteria in one or more anaerobic digesters. Methane production is thus increased.
This two-step process is particularly advantageous because it is simple and easy to carry out economically. It suffices in fact to associate with a purification station, a pre-treatment tank making it possible to quickly obtain the solubilization of the lipid materials in water.
The present invention is not limited to the embodiments described, but can undergo various modifications and come in various variants obvious to those skilled in the art.
