Abstract

Un système d'analyse de masse comprend un détecteur à multiplicateur d'électrons fonctionnant en mode simultané qui donne en sortie à la fois un décompte d'impulsions et un signal analogique. Selon l'intensité du flux ionique, les signaux définissent une région de décompte d'impulsions exclusif où seul le signal de décompte d'impulsions est valable, une région de chevauchement où tant le signal de décompte d'impulsions que le signal analogique sont valables, et une région à signal analogique exclusif où seul le signal analogique est valable, ainsi qu'une région dépourvue de décompte d'impulsions et de signal analogique où aucun signal n'est valable. Ce système produit un indicateur séparé pour chaque région. Quand un spectre de masse est scanné, le décompte d'impulsions et les données analogiques sont enregistrés de concert à chaque palier, avec leur indicateur associé, et mis en mémoire. Ces signaux, et leurs indicateurs, permettent alors de produire un spectre de masse en utilisant le signal de décompte d'impulsions, le seul signal analogique ou les deux. On peut en outre produire des affichages numériques de chaque pic ou de divers pics en utilisant le seul signal de décompte d'impulsions, le seul signal analogique ou les deux, assortis d'un affichage du ou des indicateurs placés aux pics qui sont en cours d'affichage.
