Abstract
The invention relates to criminal investigation and forensics. With the proposed method, lost and found objects can be identified with 100 % reliability, without any traces being left on the objects in question or any alteration in their quantitative and qualitative characteristics. The proposed method involves a preliminary examination of the object on the basis of a formal plan and with the aid of a 'sign method' matrix, identification of individual characteristic features which are not distinguishable at the level of sensory perception, and the storage of those characteristic signs in corresponding matrix cells, the technical means used in the examination and their operational modes being determined at the same time; these means leave no traces and have no effect on the qualitative or quantitative characteristics of the object in question. Recording of the information concerning the signs identified is done with a data redundancy of not less than 0.5.
