Abstract
A background noise reducing microphone is disclosed which has a housing and two similar capacitive microphones. The housing has at least one opening facing the outside and each capacitive microphone has a vibratable membrane. The membranes are electrically connected together and mechanically coupled through the housing. Only one of the capacitive microphones faces the opening to the outside. In an alternative embodiment, the microphone of the present invention has a housing, at least two strain-measuring membrane units and an output unit connected to the output of the membrane units. The housing has one opening, as per the above, which only some of the membrane units face. The output unit outputs a signal corresponding to the difference in the outputs of the strain-measuring membrane units. In a further embodiment, a thin film microphone is disclosed which includes at least one vibratable membrane having acoustic openings therein and a solid static back plate.
