OBJETO DE LA INVENCION  OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The object of the invention is a feeder for bird cages of the type intended to contain seeds with shell (millet, birdseed, etc.) that is configured and has the necessary elements so that, without disassembling it and even without removing it from the cage, it is possible to insufflate in its interior a current of air that drags out the shells that accumulate on the food after having eaten the bird. It consists of a container to place the food; a cover that has an opening for the bird to introduce its head to feed and holes through which the air stream enters; and a cap or dome that acts as an air distribution chamber.
ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVENCION  BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Two types of bird cage feeders are known in the state of the art. One is of the food distributor type and consists of a small container that is connected to a seed deposit that provides food to the container as it is emptied. The bowl of this feeder is usually shallow and the bird, while eating, rushes into the bowl and throws both the husks and seeds at the bottom of the cage. In these feeders, therefore, there is no accumulation of husks on the food.
DESCRIPCION DE LA INVENClON Another type consists of a container and a cover with a lateral opening so that the bird can reach the food. The depth of the container prevents the bird from throwing out the seeds or the shells. Thus, when the bird eats, shells accumulate on top of the rest of the food and to eliminate them you have to remove the feeder from the cage, remove the cover, blow on the shells so that they fly out of the container and then replace it with the Rest üel food or add more. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The object of the invention is a bird cage feeder configured so that, without dismantling it, a stream of air can be insufflated that drags the husks of the seeds outside and is composed of three parts:
A container intended to contain the seeds and which has a device that allows it to be attached to the cage; This device is of the universal type and has a lateral groove and dimensions that allow its coupling between the bars of most cages. The container has the appropriate depth so that the bird cannot spill out the food and the angles of its lateral faces must be obtuse or curved in order to facilitate the circulation of the air and with it the drag of the faces. It can be linked to a seed deposit.
Another part is a cover that fits into the mouth of the container and prevents the bird from eating food or shells out of the cage. It has a domed shape and has a lateral opening so that the bird can access the food. In the upper part it has one or several holes through which the air current that collides with the shells that have been left over the food penetrates and lifts them and drags them out through the opening for the bird. The shape, dimensions, number and distribution of these holes are a function of the shape and dimensions of the feeder and will have as a final objective that the current αe air reaches the entire surface of the food and has sufficient strength to raise and drag the husks. It is convenient that the angles that form its lateral faces are obtuse or curved to facilitate air circulation and that the opening for the bird is as small as possible to facilitate a smaller dispersion of the shells at its exit.
The other part is a cap or dome that attaches to the upper part of the cover, covering the air inlet holes and acting as an air distribution chamber that is insufflated, so that the current is distributed evenly through the holes and reaches the entire surface of the food with equal intensity . For the entry of the air it has a lateral duct of length and section adapted to allow the penetration of sufficient air and to do it comfortably. This cap can be made as a separate piece that is fixed to the cover by gluing or fitting and can also be cast with the cover forming a single piece.
The structure described above provides a correct operation whatever the source that supplies the air flow, which can be produced by mechanical means or simply by blowing with the mouth.
This feeder could be built more simply by not using the cap, but although the operation would be the same, it would be uncomfortable to apply the mouth over the holes in the cover to blow the air.
The described feeder has all the elements for proper operation, but, optionally, some elements can be added or modified, so that ODtenemαs different models, but with the same basic operation. For example, a complement in the form of a flat sheet with a narrow and ducted hole can be used. It is placed in front of the exit opening and allows better control of the direction and dispersion of the shells at their exit.
Channels can also be made in the air inlet holes through the inner part of the cover, in order to direct the air flow to the entire surface of the food.
Also, and in order to achieve an air current of a wide radius of action, a propeller or other rotating element can be placed in the cover hole thorium The energy needed to move the propeller can come from the air blown into the cap or from an engine directly connected to it.
Another possibility is that the air comes out of a place other than the opening for the bird. This outlet is a hole made in the deck, which is channeled and is smaller than the opening for the bird; This makes the air jet less wide and there is less scattering of shells and a more defined direction. This outlet works properly when the opening for the bird is covered. The configuration of the cap and distribution of the entrance holes will be done looking for maximum efficiency and comfort.
