Definitions
- the present invention relates to construction sets, especially to games of educational character, consisting of at least two basic elements and at least one coupling element.
- DE-OS 37 04 112 there is described a construction set with basic elements having at least one plain matching surface and a groove formed in it and with coupling elements having at least two joining elements to be inserted into the grooves of the basic elements.
- the coupling elements are prismatic bars consisting of two slabs parallel to each other and an elastic layer installed between the said slabs. After certain compression of the elastic layer, the coupling elements can be introduced into the grooves of the basic elements to be joined, the respective grooves fronting each other. Thereby a satisfactory coupling will be created between the two plain matching surfaces.
- the two joining elements of the coupling elements are represented by the parts inserted into the two grooves and fitting closely therein.
- Goal of the present invention is to remove the drawbacks set forth above.
- Object of the present invention is therefore to create a new construction set in which there is a connection between the basic elements capable of bearing tensile loads as well, further the coupling element is of simple construction and small dimensions and permits the use of numerous different basic elements of various forms and many combinations thereof. Summary of the invention
- a construction set with at least two basic elements and at least one coupling element wherein the basic elements have at least one plain matching surface each, further a groove formed in it, and the coupling elements have at least two joining elements to be inserted into the grooves of the basic elements; wherein, according to the present invention, the grooves and the coupling elements have T shaped profiles, the two joining elements of the coupling element are in 180° angle position, and the height of the joining elements is equal with the depth of the grooves.
- the plain matching surfaces of the basic elements are in vertical position to each other.
- the basic elements have at least three- plain matching surfaces.
- the basic elements are of prismatic, e.g. brick-like or cube-like form.
- all sides of the basic elements are formed as plain matching surfaces with grooves of T shaped profile.
- width of the plain matching surfaces is ten units
- width of the mouth portion of the grooves is two units and its height is one unit
- further width of the bottom portion of the grooves is four units and its height is one unit
- the grooves are positioned symmetrically relative to central lines of the plain matching surfaces.
- the construction set according to the present invention is capable of bearing large tensile loads as well. It is simple to manufacture and touseit.lt permits to create numerous different basic elements and to combine them in various forms. It is a very useful educational game in one aspect. However, it may be of use in solving industrial problems as well.

- Fig. 2 isthe planview of the basic element shown in Fig. 1
- Fig. 3 is the axonometric view of a coupling element of the construction set according to the preferred embodiment
- ' Fig. 4 is the side view of the coupling element as shown in Fig. 3
- Fig. 5 is the plan view of the coupling element as shown in Fig. 3
- Fig. 6 is the plan view of a closing element of the construction set according to the preferred embodiment
- Fig. 7 is the front view of the closing element as shown in Fig. 6
- Fig. 8 is the axonometric view of a filling element of the construction set according to the preferred embodiment.
- the basic element 1 shown in Figures 1 and 2 is a regular cube made of plastics, metals, wood or other suitable material.
- the basic element 1 has six plain matching surfaces 2. All matching surfaces 2 contain a groove 3 each.
- the grooves 3 are made e.g. by machining or by molding.
- the central axes of the grooves 3 are situated in the central lines of the surfaces 2. Both ends of all the twelve grooves 3 are open.
- the grooves 3 have T shaped profiles with shafts of the T-s directed to the surfaces 2.
- edges of the basic elements 1 are ten units long,- width of mouth portions of the groove? ? is two units and depth of them is one unit, further width of bottom portions of the grooves 3 is four units and depth of them is one unit.
- the coupling unit 4 shown in Figures 3 to 5 is a regular cube. All edges thereof are four unit long. Four lateral sides of the coupling unit 4 possess a groove 5 each. Width of the grooves 5 is two units and depth of them is one unit.
- the coupling unit 4 consists of two joining elements 6 both being of T shaped form and being in 180 angle position to each other (see Fig. 4). The joining elements 6 fit exactly into the grooves 3 of the basic element. Therefore, when two basic elements 1 are connected with each other by one of their respective matching surfaces 2, the grooves 3 thereof being aligned, the joining elements 6 of the coupling unit 4 can be introduced into the grooves 3 and a reliable junction of the two basic elements 1 will be established.
- all sides of the basic element can accept further basic elements.
- basic elements of other forms can be connected when having plain matching surface at least on one side and a groove of T shaped form in it.
- Uncovered grooves 3 on those sides of the basic element 1 which bear no further such elements can be filled by closing elements 7 shown in Figures 6 and 7 when required on esthetic or technical grounds.
- Profile of the closing element 7 as shown in Figures 6 and 7 conforms with that of the grooves 3.
- the closing element 7 fills completely the groove 3 when inserted and makes uninterrupted the surface 2. It can act as a fastening element as well when positioned penetrating into an aligned groove 3 of an adjacent basic element 1.
- filling elements 8 can be used to close remaining free spaces.
- the filling elements 8 are of cube form. The length of the edges thereof is one unit.
- the coupling element 4 can act as an axle as well bearing the basic unit 1 rotating around it. Then the coupling element is preferably cylindrical.
