Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a dispenser according to the preamble of Claim 1.
  • a dispenser of this type is disclosed in German Patent 292,585 from 1915.
  • Said patent discloses a dispenser for wadding which is wound on a roll and is fed to a cutting element via a transport section comprising two rollers located opposite one another.
  • Said cutting element comprises a scissors construction having a cutting blade which is mounted so that it hinges and moves past a fixed cutting blade.
  • a problem which always arises when cutting plasters with scissors is that, as a result of the layered construction and the presence of elements of differing thick- ness and differing softness, the plaster moves in the slit which is unavoi ⁇ dably present between the two cutting blades. This means that either a particularly heavy construction has to be used for the cutting blades or that cutting must be effected in some other way.
  • German Registered Utility Model 9200572 a cutting construc- tion is described wherein cutting is carried out from left to right.
  • this construction has the disadvantage that, during cutting, the plaster is pushed aside in front of the cutting opening and an accumulation of plaster material will be produced instead of a plaster which is cut through.
  • the aim of the present invention is to overcome this long-stand ⁇ ing disadvantage and to provide a dispenser for plasters with which, in addition to effective storage and transport, effective cutting is also possible. Metering of plaster material using a dispenser is desirable, on the one hand from the standpoint of hygiene and on the other hand with a view to always using the appropriate length of plaster material.
  • the passage through the adhesive material constitutes the major problem and gives rise to the shortcomings known to date in the prior art.
  • the backing material for the adhesive material of the plas ⁇ ter is moved outwards during cutting in such a way that a narrow lengthwise strip is produced on which very little or no adhesive material is present. Cutting then takes place at this point.

  • this cutting movement essentially corresponds to that according to the invention, cutting through a stack of sheets of paper is a very different matter to cutting through a plaster.

  • Plastic materials such as polyethylene are preferably used for the carrier block.

  • Cutting blade 13 is driven upwards with the aid of spring 17. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the cutting edge of the cutting blade is at every point the same distance away from the carrier block 12. With the device described above, the cutting blade 13 is always clearly visible, so that the user can make a good estimate of the length of plaster he or she is cutting off.
  • the device described above is operated by turning knob 22 on one side, as a result of which transport of plaster takes place, and, after sufficient plaster has been moved to the outside through guide 19, actuat ⁇ ing lever 14, as a result of which cutting of the section in question takes place.

  • said plaster comprises a strip of backing material 28 which is coated with an adhesive 29, under which a protective removable covering 30 is fitted.
  • a wound cushion 31, which is composed of a relatively soft material, is located in the middle of the plaster.
  • cutting blade 13 On cutting through using cutting blade 13, the latter must, on the one hand, move through the backing material 28 without any problem and it must be prevented that adverse effects arise as a result of the presence of the adhesive material 29. It is the presence of this material which makes cutting a problem. This problem is further exacerbated because cutting blade 13 also has to pass through the relatively soft material of wound cushion 13.
  • Fig. 4b shows that by moving the blade downwards, during which operation said blade comes simultaneously into contact with the plaster material over its entire width, the backing material 28 is pushed upwards, as a result of which the adhesive material is moved apart at the cutting point and the blade can cut relatively easily.
  • the carrier block is flat and that cutting-through takes place at all points simultaneously.
