Description

Radlager für KraftfahrzeugeWheel bearings for motor vehicles
The invention relates to a wheel bearing according to the preamble of claim 1.
A wheel bearing for motor vehicles of the specified type 'can be seen from DE-PS 30 10 726. Holes are located on the radial flange of the inner ring of the roller bearing, which lie approximately in the area of the outer ring of the roller bearing. However, these holes are only intended for fastening other parts to this flange by means of the wheel bolts. The outer bearing ring is axially fixed in the bearing bracket by a snap ring after the outer ring has been inserted into the bore of the bearing bracket with a slight sliding fit. The snap ring required has several major disadvantages. First of all, it represents an additional part. In addition, it is difficult to handle when mounting the bearing in the bearing bracket. It must namely be snapped into the additional groove of the bearing bracket in a very narrow space with additional aids. Both the groove and the snap ring are subject to high accuracy requirements, because the outer ring fastened with a sliding seat must never be axially seated in the carrier. The latter would include soon lead to bearing failure.
It is therefore an object of the invention to improve a wheel bearing according to the preamble of claim 1 so that the disadvantages mentioned above do not occur and simple assembly results in simple assembly of the outer ring with a secure fit. The solution to this problem is specified in the characterizing part of the claim.
Since, according to the invention, the fastening holes are located in the area of the outer ring, they perform a further function. This is because pressure stamps of an assembly tool can be passed through them, which are attached to the end faces of the outer ring during assembly and push the oversized outer ring into the bore of the bearing bracket. The high forces that occur are exerted directly on the outer ring. This prevents damage to the rolling elements and raceways that would occur if the assembly forces had to be guided to the outer ring via the inner ring and the rolling elements.
A favorable configuration in terms of assembly results from the fact that the end faces of the outer ring and the bearing support lie in one plane after assembly. This means that an exact axial assignment of the outer ring and bearing bracket is always ensured without any additional effort, because this position automatically results from the fact that the end faces of the assembly stamp come into contact with the end face of the bearing bracket and so the outer ring does not move any further can move.
The invention is illustrated by a figure. This shows a partial cross section through the storage according to the invention. The wheel bearing consists of an inner ring 1, with which both the outer part 2 of a joint and a fastening flange 3 are integrated, the two rows of balls 4 and the outer ring 5. The latter has a smooth, continuous cylindrical outer surface 5 'and has a high interference fit fastened in the shoulderless bore surface 6 'of the bearing bracket 6.
The desired simple assembly of these parts is achieved by introducing through the already existing fastening holes 3 'on the flange 3 distributed around the circumference only indicated axially directed pressure stamps 7 of an assembly tool. Since these holes 3 and thus also the punches 7 are arranged in the area of the outer surface 5 'of the outer ring 5, the outer ring 5 is first pressed with them into the bore surface 6' of the bearing bracket 6, and so long until the end face 5 " of the outer ring 5 lies in the same plane 8 as the end face 6 "of the bearing carrier 6. Obviously, simple assembly is thereby achieved with precise positioning of the outer ring 5 in the bearing carrier 6. There is no fear of damage to the other bearing parts, since the high assembly forces do not put a strain on them.
